Hello there! This is a one-shot based on the request by Lightningstar22, on Tirpitz' reaction to Bismarck's death. I honestly don't know how to write telegrams despite searching the Internet, so, here's my best shot...

Tirpitz' face rarely showed any form of emotion.

She was a great battleship.

Battleships were not supposed to have feelings. Battleships are meant to fight, fight and fight.

This was a mantra Tirpitz often repeated to herself in her head.

She often wondered if it was true, or if it was just an illusion she created for herself.

Her face was usually dull and expressionless, otherwise deep in thought, possibly pondering the moves of the enemy ships.

But today, her face changed.

27 May, 1941

Tirpitz paced up and down. From where she was, she could see the sea, bright and beautiful. But when she looked again, she saw the death. The destruction. She felt something was wrong, and she would soon find out - her gut feeling was definitely right.

She opened the telegram U-556 had sent to her.

YOUR SISTER BISMARCK HAS BEEN SUNK -(STOP)- CONDOLENCES AND APOLOGIES -(STOP)- I WAS UNABLE TO SAVE HER -(STOP)- PLEASE FORGIVE ME BECAUSE I WON'T FORGIVE MYSELF -(STOP)-

She read the telegram again.

YOUR SISTER BISMARCK HAS BEEN SUNK -(STOP)- CONDOLENCES AND APOLOGIES -(STOP)- I WAS UNABLE TO SAVE HER -(STOP)- PLEASE FORGIVE ME BECAUSE I WON'T FORGIVE MYSELF -(STOP)-

Tirpitz blinked. She read the telegram again and again.

Was this true? Had her sister, whom she had never met, been sunk?

Why didn't Tirpitz make a move to meet her?

Why didn't she ever go to see her sister?

"Bismarck..." she whispered, tears falling like rain.

Bismarck, the sister she never knew.

Bismarck, who had been the glory of the German Navy, like Hood for the Royal Navy.

Bismarck, who had just been sunk.

Tirpitz heated the note up above a glowing candle, hoping to see that it had a concealed message... Maybe a message telling her it was a ruse... Or a prank...

U-556... The U-boat would probably blame herself.

Tirpitz sighed. She glanced at the telegram for what seemed to be the millionth - or the trillionth - time.

And Tirpitz' face showed emotion - for what was perhaps the first time in forever.

Hope it's okay! Remember to leave one-shot requests in the first chapter
