Akagi's love was known to surpass all boundaries, and be greater than anything else in the world. Her red spider lily, which she lovingly clipped in her hair, flourished under her care. But one day, Akagi would lose her red spider lily, and all the Sakura Empire's plans would fall apart, piece by piece...

4 June 1942

"Takeoff!"

The first Japanese takeoff against the Midway islands occurred precisely at 4.30, and Akagi felt almost glorious - her plans would work perfectly, and she would take down many. She turned to her sworn sister, Kaga, who hopped about nervously, looking around for enemy ships or planes. Ever since the loss of her beloved sister Amagi, Akagi and Kaga had sworn to be like sisters, staying together till the end.

"What's wrong, dear sister?" Akagi asked concernedly. "Nothing... Just worried," Kaga muttered. Akagi smiled gently. "If we fall, we will fall together, if we rise, we rise together," Akagi consoled. Kaga's face brightened and she nodded.

Akagi, in her heart, was also as nervous as Kaga, although she refused to let it show. She could see ten planes nearby, evidently, they were enemy planes, looking for the Japanese ships.

Later on, some Avengers and B-26s took off from Midway, attacking the Kido Butai. Tone's recon planes finally found signs of enemies - the main American Naval Force was here.

More enemy planes arrived, from some - in Akagi's mind - unimportant warship that didn't need attacking. Still, she and the rest did their best to destroy the ships.

"Enterprise, engage!" a shout could be heard. "Grey Ghost, always so dramatic." Kaga rolled her eyes, getting ready to fight. "The honourable Yorktown class is here! Tremble at our sight, dudes!" Hornet yelled, launching her planes. "Curses!" Souryuu cried as the mighty class of Eagle Union ships launched their planes, which dropped their payload on the Japanese ships. "Sister... Stay safe," Kaga whispered, silently holding Akagi's hand. "Don't worry! Akagi will!" Akagi replied, launching more planes to attack the Eagle Union ships.

The plan failed for the first time, and Souryuu was hit hard. She and her ship slowly drifted down. "No! Souryuu!" Hiryuu cried, desperately trying to reach for her sister. "Hiryuu... You must continue fighting... Without me... I'm sorry..." Souryuu whispered as she dipped beneath the waters, never to be seen again. Hiryuu snarled an insult at the Eagle Union ships, particularly Enterprise and Yorktown, and launched more planes. The dive bombers from the enemy side retaliated, hitting Hiryuu.

"Ah, so this is where it ends..." Kaga whispered, her eyes dulling as the bombs detonated, blood oozing from her wounds as her fingers slipped from Akagi's grip, the smile disappearing from her face. The blue flower hairpin Akagi had gifted to her fell into the sea, bobbing on the water. "Kaga! Don't leave me!" Akagi exclaimed. I've already lost Amagi... I cannot lose Kaga as well! "I cannot... Stay by your side... Anymore... Fight well, sister... I will be waiting for you..." Kaga smiled for the last time as she and her ship drifted down. Akagi wept. "What have you done, Akagi?!?!" Akagi scolded herself as she launched more planes.

That night, the red spider lily wilted.

"Hiryuu, it seems like our plans have failed... I will be going to join Kaga in the shipgirl afterlife," Akagi whispered, head down. Hiryuu bowed her head in respect. She couldn't bear to watch. Souryuu, Kaga, Akagi... Just lost like that. I presume I will die here as well, Hiryuu thought as she turned away.

Akagi reached for the place where she clipped her flower, and to her horror, the red spider lily was already gone. She sighed as she felt the pull downwards. "Goodbye, Hiryuu... Kaga, Amagi, I'm coming..." she whispered. Then all was black and Akagi felt no more.

The red spider lily was lost forever, and Akagi had to find a new one to clip in her hair.

Thanks for sticking till the end, and sorry for late post! This was suggested by EditTheJavelin. Thanks!!!! Remember to give me more requests :)

The FMOF is the Five Minutes of Fate, a historical section in the Battle of Midway. This will be a five-part story, even though Yorktown's sinking doesn't really count... lol...
