Hood's Sinking

Hood PoV

Hood glided across the water, her eyes scanning the waters. She and Prince of Wales had been sent to intercept KMS Bismarck and KMS Prinz Eugen. Word had it that the two mighty German ships were en route to the Atlantic, planning to attack convoys. Hood had heard that Bismarck was on her maiden voyage for this mission. She sighed, thinking, I wish there were no conflict in this world.

Hood was publicly perceived as invincible. The Mighty Hood. No one and no ship, could defeat her. But Hood didn't want this title. She wanted peace, for the world to have less fighting in it. She was created just to fight, to destroy, to devastate many.

"Prince of Wales." Hood whispered softly. "Yes, Hood?" the battleship replied. "I think I see the two German ships up ahead. About ten miles, maybe?" "Ah, yes. Shall we atta-"

Prince of Wales didn't have time to finish her sentence, because a wall of plunging fire was suddenly sent up by one of the German ships - Bismarck. "Ah!" Hood cried as the fire penetrated her weak deck armour. Prince of Wales' eyes widened and she quickly fired at the ships far away, gliding over to help Hood. "Hood!" Prince of Wales cried as blood oozed freely from Hood's wounds.

"Prince of Wales..." Hood whispered as some more German shells came from the ships who were rapidly approaching. The shells hit Hood near her ammunition magazine, and Hood cried out in pain once again. "Hood! No! You can't leave me here!" Prince of Wales shouted as she fired more shells into the air.

Hood slowly sank, her eyes staying open. The war must be won... she thought, not once thinking about herself. "Prince of Wales..  continue fighting... Fight for freedom, and for the peace of the world... And win the war for us... For me..." Hood whispered. In front of her, a tear dropped down a particular battleship's cheek. "I'm sorry, Hood..." Bismarck said softly. "I forgive you..." Hood whispered. She closed her eyes...

The magazine exploded.
