The atmosphere in the doctor's office felt heavy with tension as Y/n, Five, and Klaus sat across from the doctor. He leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, exuding an air of indifference. "As I said to your son and his little friend earlier, any information about the prosthetics refills is strictly confidential. Without the client's consent, I simply cannot help you," he stated, dismissing them with an air of finality. Five stood up, pacing the small room like a caged animal. "Well, we can't get consent if you don't give us a name," he said through gritted teeth, frustration evident in his tone. The doctor merely stared at him, unperturbed. "That's not my problem. Sorry. Now, there's really nothing I can do with s—" the doctor began, but he was cut off by Klaus. "Well, what about my consent?" Klaus interjected, his voice suddenly tearful, catching everyone off guard. All three turned their heads to face him, confusion etched on their faces. "Excuse me?" the doctor asked, brows furrowing in disbelief. "Who gave you permission to touch my child and his friend?" Klaus continued, his voice rising with emotion. Y/n and Five exchanged bewildered glances, their expressions mirroring each other's confusion.
"What?" they said in unison. "You heard me," Klaus said, his tone now firm and authoritative. The doctor looked incredulous. "I didn't touch your child or his friend," he asserted, glancing nervously at Y/n and Five. Y/n stood up beside Five, her heart racing. "Oh really? Well then how did he get that bruised eye and how did she get that swollen lip?" Klaus pressed, his eyes narrowing as he pointed at them. "They don't have—" the doctor started, but before he could finish, Klaus suddenly lunged forward, throwing a punch at Five's eye. The impact was immediate, causing Five to stumble back. In a reflexive act, Klaus slapped Y/n across the face, sending her reeling in pain. "Ow!" she gasped, grounding herself against the edge of the desk as Five instinctively grabbed her arms, concern flooding his eyes. He examined her face, and she nodded, confirming the blood trickling down from her split lip. Just as Klaus's words had suggested, Five's eye was already swelling, evident of the altercation. Klaus turned back to the doctor, fury burning in his eyes. "I want it. Name, please, now." "You're crazy!" the doctor exclaimed, pointing a trembling finger at Klaus. Klaus chuckled darkly. "You got no idea." His gaze fell on a snow globe sitting on the desk, and in a moment of impulsiveness, he picked it up. "'Peace on Earth?' That's so sweet." Then, without hesitation, he smashed the globe against his own head.
A groan escaped his lips as blood began to trickle down his face. Y/n looked at Five, who wore an expression that screamed, "What just happened?" "Oh god, that hurt!" Klaus yelled, clutching his head as the doctor fumbled for his phone. "I'm calling security," the doctor said shakily, but he was interrupted when Klaus snatched the phone from his hand. "There's been an assault in Mr. Big's office! We need security now, too!" Klaus shouted, his voice rising in urgency. He threw the phone down onto the desk, and Y/n exchanged a worried glance with Five. "Now here's what's gonna happen, Grant," Klaus began, his tone dangerously calm. "It's Lance," the doctor corrected, but Y/n shushed him. "Let him talk," she said, gesturing toward Klaus, who smiled at her encouragement. "Thank you, pumpkin," Klaus replied, then turned back to the doctor. "In about sixty seconds, security guards are going to burst through that door. They'll see a whole lot of blood and wonder, 'What the hell happened?' And we're going to tell them that you beat the shit out of us," he finished with a triumphant grin. Y/n and Five couldn't help but smile along with him, the absurdity of the situation lightening their mood, if only for a moment. Y/n perched on the edge of the counter as the doctor rifled through files in search of the serial number of the eye. Five stood impatiently between her legs, gripping her to ensure she wouldn't fall. The doctor finally pulled a file from the stack, scrutinizing it closely. "That's strange," he muttered, furrowing his brow. "What?" Five asked, stepping closer. "It's just the eye. It hasn't been purchased by a client yet," the doctor said, his confusion palpable as he flipped through the file again.
"What do you mean?" Y/n asked, her curiosity piqued as Klaus leaned over for a closer look. "Well, our log says the eye with that serial number—this can't be right. It hasn't even been manufactured yet." The doctor looked up at Five, his expression shifting from confusion to concern. "Where did you get that eye?" Y/n glanced down at Five, who had turned his head toward the floor, a shadow of guilt crossing his face. They all filed out of the building, the weight of the new information pressing down on them. "Well, this is not good," Five said, still holding tightly onto Y/n's arm. "I was pretty good, though, right? Yeah, what about my consent, bitch?" Klaus muttered to himself, a smirk on his face. Five stopped walking, frustration boiling over. "Klaus, it doesn't matter," he said, turning to face the older man. Y/n stepped away from Five and sat on the steps, feeling the weight of the world pressing down on her. "What? Why? What's the big deal with this guy anyway?" Klaus asked, joining them on the steps. "There's someone who's going to lose an eye in the next seven days. They're going to bring about the end of life on this world as we know it," Five explained, looking directly at Y/n, his eyes filled with concern. "Yeah, can I have those twenty bucks, like now, or what?" Klaus asked, holding out his hand expectantly. Five looked up at him, his expression a mix of disbelief and annoyance. "Your twenty bucks?" he asked incredulously, standing up straight. "Yeah, my twenty bucks," Klaus reiterated, undeterred. "The apocalypse is coming, and all you can think about is getting high?" Y/n remarked from her place on the steps, shaking her head in disbelief. Klaus smiled slightly, unfazed. "Well, I'm also quite hungry. Tummy a-rumbling," he said, mimicking the sound of his stomach growling. "You're useless," Five said, plopping down next to Y/n. "You're all useless." Y/n shot him a hurt look, but he quickly added, "Except you, princess," taking her hand in his. "I figured it out," Klaus said, snapping his fingers as inspiration struck him.
"Why you're so uptight. You must be horny as hell." Klaus moved closer and sat down next to Five, the smirk still on his face. "All those years by yourself, it's got to screw with your head, being alone," he continued, trying to analyze the situation. Five bit the inside of his cheek, irritation boiling beneath the surface. "Well," he started, gathering his thoughts. "I wasn't alone." Y/n and Klaus exchanged glances, then turned back to him, intrigued. "Oh?" Klaus asked, leaning in. "Pray tell," Y/n added, nudging his shoulder in a teasing manner. She had assumed it would be about some fleeting romance. "Her name was Dolores. We were together for thirty years," Five revealed, his voice tinged with both nostalgia and sorrow. Y/n felt her heart sink at the revelation. There had been someone else in his life, someone he had loved for three decades. But then, why the playful banter and the affectionate gestures? She felt a pang of jealousy rise within her, though she quickly suppressed it. Five looked at her, sensing her turmoil, and hung his head.
"Thirty years, wow. I think the longest I've ever been with someone was, I don't know, three weeks. But that's only because I was tired of looking for a place to sleep," Klaus chimed in, trying to lighten the mood. Five shifted his gaze toward the street, lost in thought as he gripped Y/n's hand tightly. They jumped into a waiting taxi, the driver's eyes widening in surprise at their sudden entrance. However, he calmed down when Five said, "Don't stop. Just keep going." The driver nodded, and they sped off. As they drove past Klaus, Five rolled down the window and saluted him. "Hey, hey, hey! What about my money!?" Klaus shouted after the car, his voice laced with mock indignation. Five rolled the window back up and sank back into his seat, reaching for Y/n's hand again. She instinctively pulled it away, a small frown on her face. "I deserve that," he whispered to himself, a hint of regret in his tone as they continued their journey into the unknown. The weight of their mission loomed ahead, but somehow, they felt a little more united in their chaos, ready to face whatever came next.
