— CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR,
dear ruby, love jm.

"BELLAMY BLAKE, YOU'RE LATE." Ruby says into the radio. "Every three hours means every three goddamn hours."

"Are you done?" Her boyfriend asks. His voice is snappy and irritated. Ruby rolls her eyes.

"Ask if he's found the source of the acid fog." Clarke instructs from beside her.

"Clarke wants to know if you've found the source of the acid fog yet." Ruby says.

"No, that's gonna have to wait." Bellamy informs her.

"What?" Ruby's back straightens. "Bell, that's the most important step. We can't get through with the acid fog still up."

"No, right now our friends are. They've started taking them from the dorm, one at a time every few hours." Bellamy tells Ruby. The three girls sitting around the radio all exchange looks.

"Taking them where?" Raven questions Bellamy from where she sits close to Ruby.

"I don't know." Bellamy answers. "We tried to follow them, but they went to a classified level. Maya borrowed the schematics of their vent system from her boss. . . and we're still trying to find a way in. Anything?" Bellamy talks to someone on his end. Ruby assumes it's Maya.

"I think I found a path, but it's gonna be tight. Here's the walkie Raven asked for and earbud." Comes the voice of a girl. Ruby's right. Bellamy was talking to Maya.

"We're gonna make him mobile so he can talk to us from anywhere." Raven explains to Clarke and Ruby. They both nod.

"Bell, you have to find them." Ruby says to Bellamy. "Forget about shutting down the acid fog for the moment. Right now, nothing is more important than our people."

"That's the plan." Bellamy tells her.

"If you don't, all of this is for nothing." Clarke speaks up, talking into the radio.

"Yeah." Bellamy agreed quietly.

"Stay safe, Bellamy." Ruby breathes into the radio.

"You too, Sweetheart." He responds.

Inside of the Mountain, Bellamy Blake crawls through the narrow vent. Maya was right. It's an extremely tight squeeze.

His heart is in his throat, sweat beads along his hairline. It rolls down the side of his face, dripping onto the platinum metal below him. He tries to make himself as light as possible; not daring to put down all of his weight.

"Okay, tell us where you are now." He suddenly hears Raven's voice come from the earpiece he now has.

"I'm at an intersection. Which way?" Bellamy questions the girls on the other end.

Back at Camp Jaha, Raven points to a spot on the map she's drawn of Mount Weather's blueprints. Ruby and Clarke both watch her. "He just passed the air filtration system on this floor which puts him about here." Raven then points to a spot on the map.

"Bell, we think you're close to the lab. It should be just up ahead." Bellamy hears Ruby say.

Bellamy looks between the several different directions he could go. Frustration begins to build up in his chest, "could you be more specific?"
