It's been a week since Anne came to help around the house. You were at one of your last appointments before giving birth. You were called into the room.
"Hi there Miss. Y/L/N. how are you today."
       "Good. How are you?"
"I'm doing well thanks. Are you ready to start?"
        "Yes I am."
The appointment went smoothly. As the doctor went over different things that would be happening over the last few weeks of pregnancy.
"Is there anything that might be concerning that we've talked about or we haven't talked about?"
"Well yeah.  I've been having these really strong Braxton Hicks contractions they go away when I eat but they slowly fade. Almost like in slow motion."
"On a scale of one to ten, how bad are the Braxton Hicks?"
"About a seven or an eight most of the time."
"Alright. Just because you're experiencing these strong Braxton Hicks contractions and how you're only 34 weeks, I'm gonna check to see if you're dilated."
You nodded your head as you got in the required position. The doctor checked you and nodded.
"What I thought." The doctor sighed. "You're two centimetres dilated. There's no need to worry, you aren't in labour. Your cervix is just getting ready for childbirth."
"So how long should it be until I go into labour?"
"We want to keep your twins inside until the 36 week mark so that they can breath more independently when they come out. So we're shooting for at least two weeks for their safety."
"Ok. What would happen if I go into labour earlier than a two weeks."
"An emergency c-section, then straight onto air to help them breath. They would have to possibly stay in the NICU for a month to make sure that they can breath independently."
     "Thanks." You smiled.
"No problem. See you next appointment. Take care of yourself and don't overwork your body."
     "Ok doctor."
You drove home with tears in your eyes. When you pulled into the driveway you wiped away your tears and walked into the house.
"Hey dear how was your appointment?" Anne said wiping her hands on a rag.
"Good. Interesting but good. Doctor said that Darcy and Chelsea might come early. I'm already dilated two centimetres." You teared up.
"You alright dearest?" Anne asked, coming toward you.
"Yeah the doctor said that if the girls decided to come early that they would have to be put on air for about a month cause they wouldn't be able to breath on their own." You sniffled as Harry came into the room with clean laundry.
"Baby girl what's wrong?!"
"Darcy and Chelsea may come early resulting in them staying in the NICU for a month to help them breath." Anne said as Harry hugged you.
Harry held you until you calmed down. You folded the laundry as Harry brought down the stroller and car seats with a couple of toys. He took them out of the boxes and put the car seat toys on the handles.
"I'm gonna put these in the car, then I'll come back to figure out the stroller part." He laughed.
He was able to get the car seats in the car no problem and was also able to figure out the stroller with help from his mom. Anne made the three of you dinner and the night went smoothly. You didn't know if it was because of the doctors appointment or because you were close to your due date but you couldn't go to bed. All you knew was that day by day the Braxton Hicks were going between getting stronger and lighter.
