Chapter 3 -Alex's accidental discovery

Past few days have formed the weirdest phase of my life.(At Least as of now)

One, I somehow miraculously developed the superpower to stop time and haven't told anyone yet.(Not even Alex , which is kinda awkward)

Two, the coffee video went super viral and now people think that me and Alex are witches *eye roll*. 

Last but not the least ...and the one which was the weirdest out of all ....Dylen asked me out .(Definitely not happening after what he had done to my brother through these years.) Compared to this, the idea of me getting the superpower seems to be more acceptable tbh.

Apparently , he was pranking and irritating my brother all this while, so that he could get my attention. Yea ,that's surely the dumbest way possible....100%.

Our town is a very close knit, innocent community ....so any rumour (even the most unbelievable ones) can just spread like a wildfire (especially among the older population). And that's what happened to the "witch rumour".But it's cool , in a way. The elderly people approach us and offer help ,even when we don't need it . We even got delicious food from a few neighbours.

They also treat us like some kinda "superior creatures'' ,probably because they think that we will curse them or something , if they don't. It's really funny. 

But it will cool down in a few days.

The same thing happened with Gloria (a 20 year old girl) last year . People thought that she had the powers to predict the weather , when she predicted a hailstorm twice....but then with time it was clear that all of it was coincidental and within a few months, people forgot about it. Another funny  weird rumour about Uncle John being a vampire , for some unknown reason.

Anyways .. this whole witch rumour has become a good cover for the incident . People have slowly started to think that the whole thing is fake, (made up by a bunch of high schooler hooligans) so nobody will learn about my powers or be suspicious. But Alex is super weirded out . He is tired of people whispering about him being some kinda superman ,when he is around. He is also kinda suspicious about me being involved in the coffee incident because I always avoid the topic , when he brings it up . I am sure he will catch up soon.

Later, at night ....

It was dinner time. Alex ordered some pizzas, because he was too lazy to cook.

That reminded me of how Alex was before the accident. He only entered the kitchen to eat and didn't even know how to make a sandwich.

Mom always teased him , saying that one or the other day he will have to do the chores on his own .

Aah...so many beautiful  memories in this house .

We were waiting impatiently at the dining table , for the pizzas to arrive.

As soon as the bell rang,  we bolted towards the door. Even the delivery boy was shocked at such a fast response.

We were  probably  looking like hungry dogs , because he was doing his best to control his laughter. 

After stuffing ourselves with some delicious  pizza, we decided to see a movie , as it was Saturday night and we had nothing else to do.

So I switched on the TV and picked a movie on netflix and started waiting for Alex to come from the kitchen.

After some time , he came with 2 glass bowls and a huge bucket of chocolate  ice cream. "My brother exactly knows what I like " , I say , while giving a cheeky smile.

That's when it happened....

The glass bowls slipped from his hands. It felt like the bowls were falling in slow motion...and there was pure horror on Alex's face .( who probably didnt wanna clean it up.)

Just like a reflex , I stopped the time ,correctly , when the bowls had almost touched the floor.

I sigh with relief," that would have become a lot of work.Perfect timing!", I say happily.

All the practice I had been doing with my powers had come to use.It had become more easy. I didn't even have to think about stopping time, to do so .

"Good work Lexi! ", I say while patting myself . I pick up the bowls ,inspect for any cracks and resume the time.

But I made a mistake....

Alex had seen the bowls falling ...and now they were in my hands . "I take that back ...not a good job lexi ", I whisper to myself , hiding my face from Alex.

Even though I have resumed the time ....Alex is still frozen..

Frozen due to confusion...

"Wait .....didn't I just drop the bowls????" He murmurs to himself , with pure confusion on his face."and how is it in her hands??"

He then looks at me and his expression clearly shows that he isn't  gonna let me go without giving a proper explanation. 

"What's going on Lexi??"

I just give him an awkward smile while shrugging , trying to show that I have no clue (at all) about what's happening ....but my smart brother is not buying it . (And I know it )

"Try to think of some good excuse ,if you are gonna give one", he says," you owe me some detailed explanation, Lexi",while staring directly into my soul.

I try to avoid eye contact , but then I eventually gather up the courage , and decide to tell him everything. 

"Alex.....it might be hard to believe ...but ...I....I.... have to tell you about something....."
