Walking back down the stone path, I look back at the main who remains unconscious on the ground and back to the fight.

My mother stands tied against a tree with a guard standing in front of her, gripping his sword.

I feel for the knife I took from the man during the fight at the ball, making sure it's still there. Then grasp the sword Cathy gave me in the beginning and lunge at him.

He sticks out his sword in the opposite direction at me, both peices of metal clashing as my mother flinches behind him.

"You. Leave." I speak with every clang "My. Mother." He stumbles back on the broken path of stones "Alone!" With one last clash he misses this time and my sword leaves a gash on his front.

I can't kill him.

Although I easily could right now. He's laying beneath my foot, pressed against the ground with my sword against he chest, exhausted.

But murder him right in front of my mother?

I'm not a murderer in general.

Perhaps James could walk through life doing the things he does to people without guilt, but I can't. I'd feel to bad ending this strangers life. He personally never did anything to me. He probably has a family waiting for him at home and I don't have it in me to take a life.

Besides, it's James who needs his lesson learned. Not him.

So I leave him on the ground with the open wound bleeding out.

He'll live. Perhaps loose a lot of blood and leave a scar, but he'll live.

Using the same blade I cut my mom loose from her tight restraints, which left red marks on her skin and she collapses onto the dirt. "Call the police." She pants.

I look at her and place my hand onto her back, then get distracted by Angelo, Catherine and James. "You do it."

She watches me for a moment before getting up and running away. I look towards Catherine who's yelling at Angelo while he's distracted with James.

Except this time they aren't fighting, they're arguing. "That was you!" Angelo yells at him "The entire time that was you! Don't you realise that? You can't treat people that way and expect them to react the way you want them too!"

James looks furious, glaring at Angelo as he holds his sword to his side. "Angelo relax-"

"No! He got her killed!" His voice cracks, his eyes watering as tears threaten to spill.

"Who?" She asks.

"Adriana." Angelo loosens the grip on his sword, almost sinking in defeat.

"Adriana?" Catherine raises her brows in surprise, clearly everyone knows who she is. "What do you mean?" But clearly she's as confused as I am.
