Blackbird~A Young Justice Fanfic

Chapter 5

(Delilah's POV) 

Bart and I got separated.

Again. 

Last thing I remember before being captured by the Reach was Mount Justice exploding.

With Dick still inside.

I'm used to the schedule. The scientists come in, they run some extremely  painful tests, and then they leave. After they leave, I usually fall unconscious from the torture they put my body through. 

Bart and Gar are in another lab. Jamie's probably in a different one from them also. 

The scientists come in and I prepare myself for more tests. 

I hear one of the scientists say something about a "pre-existing metagene" but I have no idea what that means. I'm too physically and mentally exhausted to even think about that right now. 

My scrambled thoughts are interrupted by these wires coming out from the pod. I try to squirm away, but it's no use. The wires latch onto me and start sending electricity through my body. I bite my lip to try and keep from screaming. I can now taste the red metallic liquid filling up my mouth from how hard I'm biting. I let out a pained whimper. 

I don't know how long the test lasted, but eventually the wires lost power and the electricity stopped flowing through my body. 

My breaths are labored, and my whole body still aches. 

Before I'm able to pass out, the scientists open my pod. I would've bolted and been out of this lab before you could say 'pinochle', if only I were a little stronger. I collapse as soon as the pod opens, not being able to support my own body weight. I crumple into one of the scientists' arms and they push me back into my pod, but leave the front half of it open. 

A different scientist comes up to me holding a syringe. My eyes widen, but I'm unable to do anything as he injects me with the needle. The substance starts coursing through my body and I'm not able to hold in my wretched scream. It feels like my whole body is on fire. I squirm to try and make the pain stop, but it never does. 

I soon pass out from the pain.

(Third Person POV) 

The Team came up with a plan to rescue their kidnapped teammates and the civilians on board the Reach ship.  

Batgirl and Robin were going to get aboard the ship with the other captives by acting as civilians. They were dressed in civvies and had Bumblebee hiding in Robin's pocket. 

After they were on board, M'gann, Nightwing and Wondergirl followed them in he bio-ship. 

Once they find the main ship, Miss Martian phases through the floor of the bio-ship and swims on board the Reach ship. She stays invisible and wanders the halls until she finds Impulse and Beast Boy.

"I found Gar and Bart. They're unconscious, but alive. No sign of Jamie, La'gaan or Delilah, though," Miss M spoke. 

"We've got eyes on Lagoon Boy. And... Shimmer?" Batgirl said before continuing, "Plus four civilians and all the teens we came with."  The Reach scientists leave the area where Batgirl and Robin are. Then Batgirl continues, "We're unsupervised now, but Blue and Delilah are still unaccounted for and escape could trigger a response. Do we wait?"

After a few seconds, Nightwing answers, "Negative, Alpha. Make your move. Before you need rescuing too. You too, Miss M. Get our boys."
