EDITED
It was a few days later, and Rita Skeeter had come to the school to take the champions' photos, and have a small interview with them.
The last few days had been horrible. With spending every meal with Harry and Cedric, they discussed what they thought would be the first task.
Cedric and Elodie had gotten considerably closer during their time spent together. This however, riled Fred up."What a charismatic quintuple. Hello,"
Rita walked closer to the group."I'm Rita Skeeter." She leant forward and shook both Elodie's and Cedric's hand.
"I write for the Daily Prophet... but of course you know that, don't you? It's you we don't know! Heh..."
"You're the juicy news! What quirks lurk beneath those rosy cheeks?" She grabbed Fleur's cheek and slapped it gently.
"What mysteries do the muscles mask?" She ruffled Cedric's hair
"Does courage lie beneath those curls..? In short, what makes a champion tick? 'Me, Myself & I' want to know. Not to mention my rabbid readers." This time she slung her arms around Elodie and Harry's shoulders."So.. who's feeling up to sharing? Hm?" Everyone stayed silent
"Should we start with the youngest? Lovely..." she grabbed Harry and took him to a small broom cupboardOnce they were gone, El went to sit down as she felt as if she didn't belong there, so she wanted to go as far away from everyone as possible.
"El, are you alright? You're looking quite pale." Cedric sympathised
"Oh I'm okay... I'm just nervous," she turned towards his gaze and grabbed his hands
"I hope you know Cedric... that I didn't put my name in that goblet. I do hope you believe me."He pulled her in for a hug and whispered "I believe you."
Just then, Rita came out and said "Now I need Ms Potter..."
She grabbed her arm and brought her to the cupboard.
Her quill floated glamorously and they both took a seat."So tell me Elodie... here you sit, a mere girl of 13..."
"I'm 16." She replied bluntly
"... about to compete against three students, not only vastly more emotionally mature than yourself..."
"I think I'm perfectly stable but okay..?"
"... but who have mastered spells that you wouldn't even attempt in your dizziest daydreams."
"Cedric, one of the champions, is in the same year as me so I doubt I'll have any problems in that department."
"Ooh! Cedric and Elodie spark romances as Elodie claims to know 'the same' as him! Write that down!" She asked the quill
"No, that's not what I meant."
"And you Ms Potter, are no ordinary girl of 13..."
"I'm 16!"
"Your story's legend. Do you think it was the trauma of your past that made you so keen to enter such a dangerous tournament?""How many times do I need to say this! I didn't enter! Neither did my brother!"
"Of course you didn't..." she winked
"The boys do seem to love a rebel Elodie." She chuckled to herself.
"Scrap that last part" she asked the quill
"So, speaking of your parents... were they alive, how do you think they'd feel? Proud? Or concerned... that your attitude shows, at best, a pathological need for attention... at worst a psychotic death wish?""Stop it! My past has not got anything to do with this! I'm leaving and you better not publish that."
Elodie walked out and slammed the door behind her. Harry was standing there waiting for her as they began to walk to the Owlery. They stared out of the window for some time, until an owl came in with a letter in its beak.
Harry walked over and grabbed the letter, the bird then bit him on the finger."It's for you." He handed the letter back
It read:
Hi Elodie, and thanks for getting in touch. I couldn't risk sending back Harry's bird. Ever since the World Cup, the Ministry's been intercepting more and more owls and she's too easily recognised.
We need to talk Elodie. You, me and Harry. Face to face.
Meet me in the Gryffindor common room, 1:00 this Saturday night. And make sure you're alone.
