Chapter 54 - Man vs Monster pt.1

Shikamaru's pov

"Choji! Look there!" Choji and I drop out of the trees and run towards Ino.

"Ino, are you alright?" Choji kneels down next to her.

"I-I... I'm o-okay." She wipes her face, but tears keep falling. What in the hell happened here, why's she crying, and where's (y/n) and Tenten?

"Ino, where are the other two?" I asked.

She tries to wipe her tears away again. "(Y-y/n), ran off that way, a-and Tenten chased after him."

"Why did he run off, did he say way?" Choji questioned.

"I-I don't know... I-I stopped paying attention..." she stared straight at me, but she had a look I've never seen her have before, one devoid of joy, hope, and cheer, left only was sorrow and self pity. Ino...

"Why are you crying?" Choji, helped her stand up.

"..." she stayed silent and she started to weep again. She turned and through herself into Choji, and she started sobbing.

"Ino..." Choji rested his hand on her head, trying to comfort her. "Ino, please we're your friends, your squad mates, please tell us what happened."

"I-it w-was (y/n), he..."

"Hey Shikamaru! Where are you going!" Choji screamed out.

(Y/n), you better have a good reason for making Ino cry, because if you don't. I'm going to kick your ass. I jump back up into the trees, and head in the direction Ino said (Y/n) and Tenten went in.

Gaara's pov

"Yeah!" The remaining Shinobi of the fourth division cheer as I look up at the meteorite, I stopped with my sand. This is the power of Madara Uchiha?

"Everyone! Incoming!" A Shinobi screams, and points to the sky. I step out from under the meteor and look up. My jaw drops and my eyes widen. No, another one... I barely managed to stop the last one...

"What's that?" Another Shinobi pointed out as some kind of spiraling sphere Smashes into the second meteorite and explodes, unleashing a powerful blast that knocks everyone to the ground and smashes the meteor into rubble that rains down on the battlefield.

"No way..." Naruto's Shadow clone stands up. "Long time no see!" It waves.

(Y/n)'s pov

"He's close, I can smell him... Madara Uchiha." Kurama growls inside my head. Ino... I'm sorry... I wipe tears off of my face. "(Y/n)! Get your head out of your ass... this is not time to dwell on the blonde girl." Kurama barked. "Madara is dangerous, more dangerous than anything you've ever fought. He will not hesitate to kill especially since Naruto and my other half are still alive. If you lose focus for even a fraction of a second, you will not see tomorrow."

"Right, sorry Kurama ." I wipe the remaining tears away, and continue to rush forward.

"(Y/n)!" I hear someone call out. "Wait up!" I stop and turn around.

"Tenten?" I watch as Tenten tries to catch up to me. She finally drops out of the trees next to me, and leans on one, panting.

"You-you're so fast." She pants trying to catch her breath.

"Really, I wasn't even trying to be." Her face grows a shocked expression. "Never mind my speed, Tenten why did you follow me?"

"Ino!"

"What?"

"(Y/n) how could you say that, how could you say those things to Ino." She screamed at me. "She loves you."

"I know..." I break eye contact with her and look away.

"You know... you know, and you still told her that!What in the hell is wrong with you?" She punches me in the face, and I take a step back. "You moron. How could you do that to her? It absolutely crushed her." She continued to stare daggers into me, and I could feel her anger, but I could also sense something else, another emotion. "Don't just stand there answer me!"

"It's because I love her too."

"So because you love her, you can't be with her... what kind of backwards bullshit is that?" She yells, her voice obviously laced with it.

"To answer your question, simply, yes. It's because I love that I can't be with her."

"That makes no sense, and you know it!"

"Fine, I guess you won't, or can't accept the simple answer." I look up to the sky. "When I was trapped in Maria's genjutsu, I was forced to watch the people I loved die over and over again. From Naruto to even Sasuke. I was forced to watch my fallen friends and family die all over again, and my only way out... was to kill Ino... but that wasn't it, In the jutsu, Ino and I weren't just in love. We had a family together, we had a son, and we were married... and I was forced to kill her, to end my suffering. So simply put, yes I can't be with Ino because I love her, because if I was with her she would almost certainly die."

"..." Tenten had a shocked look on her face and she  stayed silent, as I turn and got ready to take off again. "So that's it then... that's your excuse. That's why you had to break Ino's heart."

"Tente..."

"Shut up." Anger filled her voice. "So that's how you feel about the whole situation, you think just because you were forced to kill her in a genjutsu, you're not aloud to be with her, or anyone else, in the real world?"

"Yes... me being with someone just puts them in danger." I try to run off, but I feel Tenten grab ahold of my arm.

"You moron... you don't think we know that..." We? "We're ninja, we're Shinobi, the same as you. Neither of us are stupid enough to believe being with someone, isn't dangerous for us. It puts a massive target on our backs, especially when the Shinobi we care about is the Hokage."

"Tenten, who are you talk about?"

"You really are dense aren't? I haven't hidden it     (y/n), in fact I've made it pretty obvious. (Y/n), I love you." She pulls me towards her, and my chakra cloak dissipates. Her lips press against mine, as she wraps her arms around me. After a brief moment she breaks away from me, and stares into my eyes.

"Tente..."

"Save it, (y/n), I don't care if you think you'll be putting me in danger. Honestly I want to still be angry, and continue to berate you for how you treated Ino... but I just can't, I can't be mad at you."

"Tente..."

"Please let me finish (y/n)." She hugs me again. "I know it's wrong of me, to take advantage of this situation, but it's my only chance... Ino, I'm sorry, but I have to do it. (Y/n), I love you, and I want us to be together."

"Tenten..."

"I know, the risks, and I'm willing to take them.     (Y/n), please, I love you."

"Tenten, I..." she cut me off by kissing me again, after a second of resisting it, I give in and kiss her back. I'm sorry Ino, It's for the best, this way I won't be putting you in danger. We break away from each other and stare into each other's eyes. "Tenten I love you too."

"We're together now!" She  lovingly smiles at me, but her smile soon changes. "What in the hell is that?" I turn to look and I see a giant meteor plummeting towards the ground.

My chakra cloak reappears, and Kurama growls. "Madara Uchiha."
