Cordelia had been by the ocean her whole life, spending weekends playing in the crystal waters and getting sand in her black hair.
It was just her and her mother. Her mother had moved from a bustling city to a quiet beach, where she raised her.
Cordelia had just begun her Sophomore year in High-School. She wasn't popular but she wasn't a total loner either, more just average.
She had learned to drive over the summer, the start of autumn signaling the start of the first semester.
The first few weeks of the first semester was quite normal, Cordelia spent it like usual. Go to classes, talk with her friends, eat lunch, do homework, go home, repeat.
It was her third class, three weeks into the start of the first semester when teachers were ordered to lock their classroom doors because an intruder had entered the building.
Cordelia had never felt more terrified than in this moment, huddled in a corner of the dark classroom while she tried to keep herself from crying like some of her classmates. She could hear the man screaming and laughing psychotically as he banged on the locker doors, occasionally raking something sharp across them, letting out an ear-splitting sound.
It wasn't until after the man passed by her classroom did her teacher slowly unlock the door and mention for his class to quietly make a break for it.
Cordelia was the last to go, making sure everyone got away down the hall before she began to sprint after them, trying to be as quiet as she can.
However, she didn't make it far before she could hear the man laughing and chasing after her. But that was not what scared her.
What scared her was how he knew her name.
"Cordeliaaaaa!"
Cordelia's heart began to sink as she tried to run faster, but the man was catching up to her with ease. "Cordeliaa don't run from meee!"
Cordelia burst through the doors leading to the main hall of the school, running wherever her feet lead her. They lead her to the cafeteria, where she burst into the kitchen, fumbling around looking for anything to defend herself with.
All she could find were plastic forks, spoons, and knives, and an aluminum bat. She gripped the bats handle, raising it up and preparing to defend herself with it.
The crazed man burst into the room, cackling maniacally. This is when she got a good look at him.
He had pale skin, with a smile cut deep into his face. (Yes, I know there's a rewritten Jeff but with how most of my stories include the classic version, I'll be sticking to this appearance in order to keep the storyline classic.) He had small, almost completely black pupils with singed black hair.
His clothes were equally as haunting. His white hoodie was stained with dried and fresh blood, almost completely covering its surface. He wore black jeans that were torn from overuse in some places, along with black and white sneakers that seemed to click against the school tile.
Cordelia raised the bat, showing her weapon towards her attacker who only merely let out a sickening cackle at her terror.
"A bat, of all things? How pathetic."
Cordelia's knees quivered and almost gave out as fear boiled over her temporary spark of bravery, making it wither like a rose blooming in the cold harsh winter.
She attempted to swing at the man, who only grabbed the end of the bat and yank it out of her hands, dropping his knife onto the countertop and gripping the handle before swinging that bat at her.
As the aluminum collided with her head, Cordelia felt a moment of pain before her vision went black. The last thing she heard was the bat falling to the floor with the man cackling as he hoisted her up over his shoulder, grabbing his knife and sneaking out of the back exit of the kitchen.
