Within a week, the song was out. People were playing it everywhere, but no one knew it was me who was singing. I hadn't announced it and had asked mom, dad, Charli, and Dixie not to say anything to anyone. I went to the Hype House one day and Calvin gave me a kiss.
"Hi," he smiled.
"Hi," I said. "I missed you." He chuckled and we sat on the couch. Tayler walked in playing Eastside which was the song. I didn't pay attention and everyone walked in, sitting on the couches.
"I love this song. It's so good!" Alex said.
"Boys! And Girls!" Chase ran in wearing all pink. "I'm in a music video. Anyways, I present Machine Gun Kelly," he smiled and MGK walked in. Charli was freaking out and Dixie was holding her.
"Hold up! You!" Kelly pointed directly at me. "I had dinner with Khalid last night and he told me all about you."
"No, he didn't," I whimpered.
"You know Khalid?" Kouvr asked.
"They don't know?" Kelly asked and I stared at him as he started laughing. "Collab with me," he mouthed to me.
"No," I said.
"How much do you want? 5,000?" He asked and I shook my head. "7,000." No. "100,000. What you want 150,000?" He asked.
"150,000 what?" Tayler asked.
"Dollars."
"Why would she get that?" Nate asked as mom and dad walked in.
"Half the profits," I said.
"Ooh! She knows business! Damn!" Kelly extended his hand to me and I shook it.
"Someone fucking explain what's going on," Ryland said.
"It doesn't matter," I snapped and went to get up, but Calvin held me down.
"I know exactly what's up," Tayler suddenly said. "Eastside by Khalid, Benny Blanco, and Kaylianne." Everyone looked at me and I quickly got up and just left. I got to mom's car and mom, dad, and Calvin came outside.
"No one was supposed to know," I said and looked down. "Now it's gonna draw attention to me."
"Attention's good," Calvin said and they all huddled around me.
"No," I shook my head and was literally ready to cry.
"Kayli," I heard Kelly. "Kid, toughen up, okay?" He asked and came over. He pushed Calvin, mom, and dad aside and stood in front of me. "Chin up, shoulders back, back straight." He fixed my posture. "Stay strong. This is a small thing in your life. You're meant to be a singer, you'll be a singer." I nodded and he gave my shoulder a light punch. "I'm gonna drive her to a studio quickly and give some plans. That good with you guys?"
"Yeah," mom and dad said. I was driven and he gave me plans for a song.
"Can you sing while you're out of breath?"
"Yeah," I said.
"Can you yell and sound like you're singing?"
"Yeah," I nodded.
"Perfect. I'll get in contact with your manager," he said. I went home and didn't go to the Hype House for a couple days. I was scrolling through Instagram comments and saw people were mad at me.She's trying to be like Dixie!
Dixie wanna be!!!
I sighed and texted Calvin.
Me: I'm coming over. Is that okay?
C: Yeah. I was supposed to film with Patty, but his girlfriend came over.I drove over and Calvin walked to the living room with me.
"We should have a D'Amelio's move in now that Tayler, Olivia, and stuff are moved out," Alex said.
"What about Kaylianne?" Thomas asked.
"I said the D'Amelios. She's 18. She doesn't have to live with them. She's trying to be Dixie, and she's making money. She can get her own house," Alex shrugged. "And she's adopted, too."
"Then it's set," they all said.
"You guys are dicks," Calvin told them.
"Thanks for that," I said and quickly went to Calvin's room. He followed me after yelling at them. "Everyone's telling me I wanna be like Dixie. It's so annoying. This is why I didn't tell anyone I sing."
"Hey, it's okay. You're allowed to live your life, dude. Without people telling you what you can and can't do." I nodded and Calvin tackled me into the bed. I smiled and hugged him. "You go live your life and give me an allowance." I rolled my eyes at that comment of Griffin and Dixie. "But seriously, if you wanna give me an allowance... I'm broke." I kissed him and he smiled. Calvin played video games and wanted me to get him a White Claw. I went down and everyone looked up.
"We're-" Michael started and I flipped him off, continuing to walk while looking at my phone. I got Calvin a drink and went back up. He took a sip and set it to the side. I went over and straddled him, giving him a koala hug. He paused his game immediately and hugged me back.
"You okay?" He whispered and I hummed. "Okay. You wanna take a nap?"
"Mh-Hm," I hummed.
"Okay. Do you wanna lie down or stay on me?"
"You," I whispered.
"Okay." He went back to playing his game and I slept. I woke and was alone in the room. I waited a bit and Calvin walked in. "Hi," he smiled.
"How long was I asleep?" I asked.
"About 2 hours." I nodded and checked my phone.
"Okay. I have to go," I said.
"Song stuff?"
"Yeah."
"Good luck," he smiled and kissed me. "Let the door hit you on the way out." I laughed and left. I went to the address MGK had sent me and it was a recording studio. A week later, the song came out. I went home after celebrating with Kelly and mom was crying happy tears.
"I'm so proud of you," she hugged me.
"Thanks!" I smiled. Dixie gave me a look and walked over.
"I got in contact with Blackbear and Lil Mosey for a remix of my song," she said.
"I'm so proud of you two!" Mom said.
"They're coming over tomorrow and we're gonna go upstairs to the recording studio."
"Okay."
The next day, I was in the studio for one of my original songs I was going to do. I sang it and it sounded really good. Dixie walked in with mom, dad, Lil Mosey, and Blackbear.
"Are you done yet?" Dixie asked.
"Yeah. Sure," I said and went to walk out.
"Hey, you forgot the paper," Blackbear said. He took it and quickly skimmed through it. "Sure. I'd love to be in it," he said and handed it back to him.
"I... didn't ask if you wanted to."
