MICHAELA SAT AT the dining table along side her mother and sister, her dad glued to the tv as usual.

the tension increased as each second went by, maddy playing with her food, and her mom trying to find the best thing to say; "how was school?" her mom asked offering a smile to her daughter.

"yeah it was good, glad to be home now." michaela replied, also avoiding her food. "what a suprise." maddy mumbled under her breath causing michaela's head to turn.

"what's that suppose to mean." michaela asked sternly as her gaze burned upon her sister, "hm i don't know michaela, what does it mean? you're the smart one." she spat with venom coating her words.

although michaela was a smart girl, academically, that wasn't the reason she was sent away, which brought confusion to the girl.

"you didn't tell her?" michaela asked her mom who was trying to ignore the sisters outburst, "tell me what?"

the three women of the perez family sat there for a moment, before michaela excused herself from the table and made her way to her room, she remembered where she hid her stash of cigarettes.

she had a bay window allowing her to sit comfortable and not let the smoke get in if she opened her window wide enough, michaela sat there overthinking, wondering why no one knew why she went away, the only thought that came visible was; that her mother was ashamed.

michaela's thoughts were interrupted when soneone came knocking at the door, "who is it?"

"maddy." michaela sighed at the voice of her sister, but before she could say she was busy her sister came in anyways, "look mom won't tell me—"maddy stopped mid sentence when her gaze fell upon the cigarette gently in between michaela's fingers.

"maddy, i was an addict." the girl breathed out, only just hearing those words out loud for the very first time.

"that's why you left?" maddy asked as she joined her sister sat on the window, "you thought i'd leave you willingly?" michaela asked another question instead of answering.

"i was a mess without you." maddy said as both girls started to laugh slightly, it started to feel like old times, "same here."

"michaela, are you still..?" maddy asked her, trying not to be too touchy with the subject, "what? oh no i'm clean, i've been clean since i got there, this is just a one off, baccy smoke." michaela said, maddy never could tell when michaela was lying, but she didn't want to argue with her anymore, so she nodded and let it go.

"well you should get some sleep." maddy said as she got up and made her way to the door, "why?"

"we have school tomorrow." maddy replied with a bright smile before closing the door after her, michaela burnt out her cigarette and sighed, she did not want to go back there.

THE NEXT DAY the perez sisters walked side by side through the halls of the school, maddy ofcourse made michaela dress appropriately to her liking.

michaela's outfit consisted of; black flairs and a oversized beige hoodie, maddy agreed to her outfit after an hour of compromises.

michaela would of much rather stay at home binging netflix but being in a fight with maddy, was much worse than attending highschool.

maddy's group of friends haven't changed since michaela left, kat was still annoying and michaela couldn't really stand the girl, BB was also still too big for her boots, but cassie was different.

michaela always liked and preferred cassie to the others, cassie was more chill, and michaela enjoyed her company.

cassie of course adored michaela, not in that way, she just wanted to be exactly like her, she loved her outfits, her hair, the way she spoke and addressed herself.

maddy knew this, she knew how hard cassie tried to get michaela to notice her, cassie spoke of her like royalty, and that's when she decided she wouldn't tell her friends the real reason behind michaela leaving.

cassie was walking up to the sisters with a bright smile on her face when her eyes landed on michaela, but her mood changed when she noticed who michaela's eyes were fixed on.

as michaela walked through the doors her eyes scanned everyone until they landed on rue, her heart melted at the sight of her, and from that day, she knew in the back of her head she had to except her feelings for the brunette, who was just as fucked up as her.
