LOVE IS A CONFUSING concept. especially for two 17 year old addicts. love can give everybody a different outcome. sometimes it can give you feelings of euphoria. or it can leave someone in a state of misery.
for love to work communication is one of the most important factors. but when two girls are struggling to realise what's going on between them communication tends to get lost and misery starts to rise.
michaela found her way to an old pond she use to spend her family picnics at. she began overthinking about everything. rue, her family, drugs.
rue turned up at the perez household only to be told she hadn't come home yet. she had no one else to ask other than arvin. rue braced herself for michaela to be with arvin when she knocked the door but instead it was just arvin, his eyes bloodshot clearly from crying.
"she's not here." he said not giving her a second glance. "how did you-" rue was cut off by arvin; "she's in love with you." he paused. "i always thought i'd have the better chance, but she chose you." he said as he stared at his feet.
"she chose me?" she asked in shock. "was it not obvious?" he spat frustrated with rue's obliviousness. "do you know where she-"
"she'll be at the lake, that's my guess." arvin shrugged as he closed the door. rue couldn't help but wipe the smile off her face as she almost ran to the lake.

MICHAELA WASN'T sure how long she sat gazing at the lake. but she had watched the sun set and the stars illuminate the sky.
"why're you here?" michaela asked as she heard footsteps behind her. "to talk." rue answered as she sat beside her. "nothing to talk about." she said not looking at her.
"i'm not with jules, and i don't want to be." rue said to which michaela finally faced her. "i want to be with you." she sighed. michaela nodded, "but we need to be clear about you and arvin." she said to her.
"i'm not with arvin, and i don't want to be." she copied what rue had said to her. "i'm all in if you are." rue said to her as she laced her fingers with michaela's. "i'm all in." she said as she leaned into her.
the kiss was short but had a big meaning behind it. "we both know this isn't going to end well." michaela whispered as they pulled away. rue didn't respond, instead she connected her lips back with michaela's.
that night both girls laid by the lake in each others embrace. forgetting about the real world and living in their own.
"we should run away."
