POV: Ex
There are a few things all hermits (or hermit alters) have in common. 1. Being related to hermitcraft. 2. Being good people (most of the time). 3. Being pretty independent when it comes to work. And finally, 4. OVERACHIEVERS.
And at this moment, I was fitting into the fourth category. I was strip mining and had at 10 diamonds so far. I knew that wasn't much of an achievement in hermitcraft- but I was pretty sure that Carrot's standards were around a million percent less.
Suddenly I heard the both dreaded and familiar hiss of a creeper. I whipped around putting my arms up in defense as it exploded. What I expected was the ground at my feet to disappear as I was blasted towards a wall, but instead I just stayed where I was. I looked around confusedly. 'That creeper JUST exploded. Yet there's no damage???' I wondered, completely confused. 'What just happened?' I asked in my head. I knew this wasn't supposed to happen. I decided to go tell Carrot, as it was probably a glitch.

POV: Carrot
I starred at the wheat that I was growing. I really wanted to make banners, but I was trying to restrain myself from cheating, so I was growing wheat to attract a sheep. Once I got the sheep I'd go on a quest for dye, and make the pride flags of my dreams. Preferably the non-binary flag, so I could give that to Ex.
I heard footsteps crunching against the grass, and I looked up to see Ex. Somehow they were in full iron armor just like me. "Hey." They said, out of breath. I could only assume that they were out of breath because they ran all the way here, but I couldn't tell. "Hi." I responded. "soacreeperexplodedbutitdidn'tleaveanydamageandI'mprettysureit'saglitch-" Ex rushed out. "Woah, slow down there bud. I may watch overly sarcastic productions but even I can't understand someone speaking that fast." I joked.
Ex pulled in a breath, starting over again. "I was mining, a creeper came up to me and exploded, but it didn't leave any damage. I thought it was a glitch, so I came to you." Ex explained. "Oh no that's not a glitch, I just turned mob griefing off. I intended it for endermen, but creepers not exploding is pretty neat too." I explained. Ex sighed in relief. They sat next to me. "Whatcha doin'?" They asked.
"Watching wheat grow. It's kinda boring." I replied. "Well why don't you do something fun to pass the time?" Ex asked. I just barked out a laugh. "I don't see any books and quills, plus I'm not a fan of monologuing outside." I explained. I could tell Ex starred at me in confusion, but I just sat there, a smile plastered on my face under the mask. I knew my sentence didn't make any sense, but who cares? I knew what it meant and that was all that matters. And no, I'm not telling you readers either.
"Do you like the path I made?" I asked out of the blue. I had recently made a path from the bridge to my houses. "It's cool, but it's literally just a rectangle." Ex responded, waving their hand in a weird motion. "What else was I supposed to do? Something that looks actually nice?" I defended sarcastically. Ex just paused for a moment, thinking over their options. "Okay you win." Ex said, defeated. I smiled even more under my mask.
I was so glad Ex was here. I was so lonely before Ex arrived, even with my pets. But now that Ex was here I actually had someone to talk too. Sure, I found it weird that Ex never spoke in chat or had even died, but did I care? Nope!
"Hey, wanna go to the nether together?" I asked. "I'm kinda scared of it but I want to build with warped planks." I explained. "Sure!" Ex responded. "I might have to turn it to peaceful while we're there, but I'll try my best to keep it on easy." I said. "That's alright with me!" Ex responded with a thumbs up. I turned back to the wheat.
"Oh carp one's ready-"
