"Your Majesty. We are ready to proceed with the next stage of the plan."
"Call for the public court. It's time to end it all."
************
The kingdom of Antharv was once again awake in the middle of the night by the loud blaring of horns and shouts of palace messengers.
"What happened? Why did the king call for the public court in the middle of the night? "
"I think it's about the assassination of High King Salil's assassination..."
"I hope the culprits have been caught..."
There was a mummer of opinions around the palace grounds where all the subjects of the kingdom of Antharv had gathered for the public court that the king was about to hold.
The horns were once again blared, indicating the arrival of the king, followed by Queen Mother, Princess Swara, and royal concubine, Mayuri.
Seeing his daughter accompanying the royal family just like a real queen made Nobleman Anwar want to jump for joy. Though there was a lingering fear in his heart that told him something bad was about to happen but the happiness of finally seeing his daughter as the Queen suppressed all the alarms blaring in his mind.
"My loyal subjects..." the loud voice of the King hushed all mummers going around. The people wanted to know the reason behind the sudden meeting.
"I'm sorry for calling a public court at such an odd hour but I needed to discuss something that cannot be delayed any further..."
Once again, there was a mummer of opinions in-crowd. What was the matter that couldn't be delayed any further? Was it about the late High King or was it about announcing the royal concubine as the new queen? Were the rumours about the concubine ascending to the throne true? People wanted to ask but none of them dared to. They patiently waited for their king to complete his words.
Paying no mind to the mummers of the crowd, Atharva continued, "The assassins of your High king Salil have been caught...." and as soon as he said this the royal shadow guards pushed forward a bunch of battered and bruised men, shaking in fear. Had the king not told them earlier that they were assassins, no one would've said that they were assassins.
The contempt and anger in the eyes of Antharva's subjects were clear as day. These pests had taken their mother figure, their High king away from them. The High King who cared for them, who listened to their problems, whose untimely death had snatched away the happiness of the entire Kingdom of Antharv. Nobleman Anwar on the other hand was starting to sweat. He knew who these assassins were. Now all he could do was pray that the assassins kept their word and would not let his name slip.
Looking at the killing intent radiating from his subjects, Atharva felt a little satisfied. At least in this life, his subjects had respected Salil as the High king he was. While the fear that was now dripping from Nobleman Anwar's face like sweat increased his satisfaction a little more.
"These pests had tried to escape the scene after brutally murdering my sleeping husband but King Samartha had managed to capture them, though in the process he was severely injured... Today is the day of their judgment." As soon as Atharva completed the statement, there were loud shouts from the people to kill the captured criminals immediately as they didn't deserve to breathe the air their beloved High king used to breathe in. Nobleman Anwar and the royal concubine, Mayuri also supported the crowd's opinion of killing the assassins immediately. The more they prolonged the proceedings of the court the more danger the father and daughter duo will be in. But Atharva had different plans.
