At the end of his shift, Blue sighed in relief as he changed back into his regular clothes. "Sweet heaven, I can breathe."
He hummed as he made his way home. He had felt a little bad about leaving Nightmare like that, but the last thing he wanted to do was bring up old flames.
When he arrived home, he was surprised that there were still lights on. He opened the door and was tackled instantly by Dream.
"I knew you could date again! I mean, to be fair, I never expected it to be Nightmare, but that's the happiest I've ever seen him!"
"What-"
"Actually, you would be so cute with him! I an understand if you don't want me to tell Ink. But I fully support this!"
"Dream-"
"I mean, you made him laugh! He's not easy to make laugh."
"Dream, we're not dating."
"What?"
"We're not dating. It's never going to happen."
"But-"
"Forget it, okay? I'm done with being lied to."
"But-"
Blue stomped up to his room. He flopped down on the bed, not even bothering to shut the door.
"No one loves me like that anymore..." He sighed. "Is it my fault?"*dream time!*
Blue looked around. He was at a small lake. His soul froze as he remembered where he was. This was where...the first time...
"It's very pretty."
Blue spun around to see Nightmare. "N-not if you were where I was then..."
"What happened?"
"My first breakup."
"Should I have brought you somewhere else?"
"You brought me here?"
"To talk, yes."
"About what?"
"About you, I suppose."
"What about me?"
Nightmare paused. "Why are you being nice to me? Aren't you scared?"
"Yeah, but...you're not entirely evil. No one is. You can still smile."
He looked over at Blue, and the smaller skeleton looked right back at him.
"I suppose you're right. So...I want to ask you to be my friend."
"Alright." Blue tried to smile. "Just...don't tell Dream, okay? He...thinks we're..."
"Dating? I saw him watching us, but I never thought he'd assume things THAT quickly."
Blue shrugged.
Night looked out at the lake. "Who were they, if you don't mind me asking."
"Who?"
"Your exes."
"I don't want to talk about it."
"I understand. Can we stay here though?"
"Yeah, I don't mind."
A picnic table appeared and Blue gratefully sat down.
They simply sat and talked about random things. When Blue woke up, he felt rested, more so than usual. He sighed, knowing he had to go back to work.
"Alright. You can do this."

When in Doubt (Nightmare x Blue)
FanficInk forces Blue to work at a resteraunt/bar as an 'undercover' job. But Ink failed to mention that Nightmare, The King of Fear himself, was a frequent patron of the same bar. Things only get stranger from there.
