Summer vacation. The best time of the year for every child. Especially for me. Well, usually. I had no idea what this year's summer was going to bring me. My brother, Josh, and I were playing outside the day the letter came. We were playing soccer. We both love soccer. We play outdoor and indoor. Summer and fall. But that day we were just in our frontyard, trying to hit each other's fence. I was about to do a really cool trick when Mr.Tompson, our mailman, came whistling right up to our mailbox. Mr.Tompson is a rather tall, old man, with a greying beard and greying hair. He has very friendly blue eyes. " Hello there twins," he said in his deep, booming voice. I grimaced. I hate when he calls us twins. Well, we are twins, but still. Josh and I both have auburn hair, mine cut to my shoulders and his,well,he has a "Bieber" cut. We are both tall and lanky and kinda pale. And we both have emerald green eyes. " Now Mr.Tompson,"I said in my stern voice,"If you aren't going to call us by our names, then you can just give us our mail and be on your way." I nodded my head, very pleased with myself, and Mr.Tompson smiled. " Well now. I'm very sorry Mae. And to you too Josh." Now it was my turn to smile. He handed us our mail, bid us a farewell, and was on his way, whistling to the next mailbox. " Lets go in Josh, its getting hot out here anyhow." We headed inside and our mom greeted us. " I saw you guys talking to Mister Mailman out there. Did you get our mail?" She asked. I smiled. " yes we did Momma," Josh said as he took the mail out of my hand," here you go." He handed the mail to Momma. She handed a letter to me and I squinted trying to read who it was from. It was from my Uncle Jared! He is on his yacht studying plankton from the Great Barrier Reef. I hastily opened the envelope and read the letter. It said:
Dear Mae, How are ya sweetheart? Me and Taylor miss ya and Josh a real whole lot. In fact, we miss you so much we have a proposition for ya. How would you and Josh like to come down to the boat for the summer?!? I hope ya will! We'll have a lot of fun. You can go snorkeling and everything! Hope you want to. I already talked to your mom about it, so its all up to you and Josh. See you soon. Love ya, Uncle Jared
Next week me and Josh were on our way to my Uncle's dock.
