McCall's Estate, Beacon Hills.
The tinny lights were pretty she loved them. Looking at it made her giggle in wonder. It also helped her fall asleep faster, especially when mommy was here, but she wasn't here today. The air was different too; she was shaken but she wouldn't cry when her pretty light was here.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
The sound came from the window. She rolled over in her court, hoping to see what it was. There's was visibly nothing there but she could feel it and she could hear it too. The sound came with light flashes on her window. It was pretty but green, and she hated that color.
Thump! Thump!
It was louder this time. This thing would break through her window. She looked towards the big door that locked her in, listening in she could hear that no one was coming. There was only one way her mommy would come rushing in she had to cry.
In Scott's study, Malia flips through page after page of fox folklore on her iPad. A solution used to come out of those fruitless reading when they were in high school. She was happy she never had to read again after graduation, but she realized later on that for her kind, she loved learning about them.
Peter noticed her newfound passion and bribed a college into giving her admission to study mythology. They wouldn't give her one since she graduated with average grades. She hated the idea, but she accepted it anyway. Besides, she finally got to see some place other than beacon hills.
When she finished her two-year study, Scott was waiting for her at the newly rebuilt Hale house on his knees with a ring.
"Ugh!" she exclaimed.
Melissa looked up from the book she was reading and looked at Hayden for help. Hayden shrugged and hid herself in the library.
"Where is everyone?!" she yelled.
"Out with Isaac, which is where I'm going now." Hayden replied.
She dropped her book and left Melissa and Malia in the study alone together.
"Malia, I told you to take it easy." Melissa reminded her gently.
"There's nothing there I haven't read, I haven't been this frustrated since high school." Malia admitted.
She dropped her iPad and sank deeper into the cushion. Melissa drew closer to her. It was late. She should try convincing this nocturnal coyote to go to bed.
"You need some sleep Lia."
"Not without Scott." She whined.
Melissa smiled and tapped her crossed arms, giving them warmth for a few seconds.
"We can't all be nocturnal, so I'm going to bed."
Malia sat straight. Her facial changed to that of confusion, making Melissa pause in her steps. She watched Malia check something on her iPad. Malia stood up in a rush. Did she get a message from Scott?
"Malia, why is it?" Melissa asked.
She tried to take a peek at the screen, but she was too far.
"Ally's baby monitor went off," Malia answered.
"But I don't hear anything."
"That's because I set it to ring in a frequency only our kind can hear."
"Let's go take care of her."
Malia looked through footage from the camera attached to Ally's court on her iPad she was indeed crying.
