The Break Up (Chapter 5)

"Jin Ling! Who said that! Of course, I..." Sizhui's face turned pale white, he felt like he was lying. He questioned himself many times about whether he actually loved Jin Ling anymore, each time it was a definite yes, but this time, he seemed a bit uncertain. He wasn't sure what made him think this way, but he thinks that he might be falling out of love with Jin Ling.

"So you aren't..." Jin Ling looked very hurt. "Sizhui... don't lie to yourself, you already know that you don't like me anymore, don't force yourself... just face it."

"Jin Ling! I just don't think that I really love you in a romantic way anymore... I would really love to still be your friend though- unless you don't even want to be that..."

"Sizhui, you're the last person that I can be mad at, but I think that I might want to think about it, it's a lot to take in. I respect that you don't have feelings for me and I accept it as well... I'll be in Lanling if you ever need me... I guess this is it then, thank you for loving me as you did. I'll take my leave."

Jin Ling turned around to hide his face that hid his eyes that were on the verge of crying, he knew that he needed to leave before his eyes couldn't hold in the waterworks anymore, he rushed his way out of Gusu Lan leaving behind the confused Sizhui.

Sizhui knew very much what he had just done. He had broken Jin Ling's heart and it hurt his own to think about it, but he also knew that if he kept lying to himself and Jin Ling, the consequences were only going to get worse. Right now he needed someone that he trusts enough to spill out everything to, both Wei Wuxian and HanGuang-Jun would be great options but Wei Wuxian and Hanguang-Jun seemed to always be together, so if he just wanted to talk to one of them, it's going to be hard to separate. Uncle Lan Xichen would be another great option, except he is not in Gusu for a long time until he comes back with Jingyi. This leaves the last option, which is probably the best, Uncle Wen Ning.

Sizhui hurried over to the place where Uncle Wen stayed, he knocked on the door a few times until he was met with a gentle face and a happy smile.

"A-Yuan, what a surprise to see you hear, is there something that I can help you with?" He politely asked he knew that usually, Sizhui would see him if the other three options weren't available to him but during a time of day like this? He wasn't so sure.

"Uncle Wen... there's been many things happening and there's just so much to think about, I'm not really sure what to think anymore... I think I need someone that can hear me out."

Wen Ning nodded and lead Sizhui inside.

"Sizhui, I'm happy to hear that I am someone that you can trust and is someone that you can share all your unhappiness with. Let's hear what you got to share with me today."

Sizhui almost automatically looked down and twiddled with his thumbs as he shared the most devastating news. Wen Ning didn't look at all shocked nor disappointed, instead, he just nodded at Sizhui.

"It's good that you understand what you like and want, Jin Ling is maybe not what you are looking for, it's ok, as long as you are happy with the choice that you made, then there's nothing wrong with it. I understand that breaking up may not be the easiest thing, although I have never experienced it, I'm sure that I have seen enough to understand. Though there are a few questions that I may want to ask if that's ok with you."

"Sure"

"What made you fall out of love? Was it something that he did? Or is there someone else out there that you fell in love with? You don't have to answer..."

"Well, it's not anything that he did wrong or anything like that, I guess that I just didn't like him as much as I thought that I did. I guess I'm more attached to Jingyi than I am attached to Jin Ling. As you know, last year, Jingyi left... I felt really lonely, I guess it was at that point where I realised that I really needed him beside me. I never thought that I would end up not loving Jin Ling, but I'm just so confused, I don't know what to think-"
