The Love She Always Wanted

Chapter 8

Marianna POV

"Have a good day at work, baby." I said to Jordan as he got up from the table after eating breakfast with me and Armani.

She was in her high chair making a mess, as usual. He kissed her cheeks and then he kissed mine.

"Thanks, you too." He said before grabbing his keys and leaving. When Patrice found out Jordan was looking for a job, she immediately asked him to be her new assistant.

I picked Armani up out of her high chair and carried her upstairs to give her a bath.

After I was finished giving her a bath, I dried her off with a towel and started putting lotion on her.

She just started crawling about a week ago. She's 7 months old now, time flies.

I changed her diaper. She hates getting her diaper changed so she started crying. I don't know why.

After I finished putting her diaper on, she stopped crying. I smiled and kissed her forehead before I quickly put her clothes and shoes on so I wouldn't be late.

After I put Armani in her car seat, I grabbed my car keys and my phone before leaving.

After I strapped her in and double checked it, I got in on the driver's side.

I pulled up at Nicole's house 30 minutes later. I grabbed Armani and her baby bag before I walked up to the front door and rang the door bell.

Nicole answered the door shortly after. She smiled as she took Armani from me and her baby bag.

"Are you sure you can take care of her?" I asked her for the tenth time.

She laughed, "I know this is your first time being without her but trust me, she's in good hands. I raised Jordan just fine, didn't I?" She asked

"You don't wanna use him as an example." I mumbled while looking down before I looked back up her.

"Yes, you did. I gotta go, bye." I said as I kissed Armani's cheeks and then got back in my car.

The guard took the cuffs off of him. Smoke rubbed his wrist while he sat down at the empty chair across from me with a glass separating us. We picked up the phones at the same time.

"Why'd you come to see me?" He asked

"Why are you in jail for something you ain't do?" I asked

"Because you said you love Jordan and I just wanna make you happy. Aren't you happy to be with somebody who beats yo ass?"

"He hasn't hit me since the last time I left him!" I semi yelled, I had to calm myself down.

"New record?" He asked, I sighed.

"Look, I just wanna know why? Why'd you take the fall for him?"

"If I can't be with you, hey, hey, listen," he said when I looked down. I looked back up at him. "If I can't be with you and raise my daughter with you, why should I be able to have freedom? Ion have shit to come home to. You know what? Fuck this!" He said before he hung up the phone.

"Smoke?" I said, he just looked at me and then he started walking away.

"Smoke! Smoke, come back here and talk to me!" I yelled, the guard cuffed him and took him away.

"Dammit!" I whispered as I placed my head in my hands. After a few seconds of getting myself together, I got up and left.

"So, uh baby have you thought about a date yet?" Jordan asked me, I had just got out of the shower.

My hair was still wet but I still had a towel wrapped around my body. I just needed to go grab my clothes and go back into the bathroom.

"A date for what?" I asked as I put my hair in bun because I was getting tired of it.

"Ummm our wedding." He answered, shit! I keep forgetting that we're engaged.

"Oh, we're still doing that?" I asked as I had finally found some clothes that I thought would be comfortable to sleep in.

"Yes, what would make you think we weren't getting married anymore, Marianna?" He said as he walked over to me. He was standing right behind me. There was no space between us.

My heart started beating as we stared at each other thru the mirror.

I didn't know how to respond. I was still wearing the engagement ring and everything. After Smoke took it off of me, I put it back on.

He took my towel off and it drop to the ground.

"You see this right here? That's all me! Mine!" He yelled, we were still staring at each other in the mirror. I could told he wanted to hit me. I can always tell just by looking in his eyes.

"Let me go calm myself down. I'll be back up here in like 20 minutes." He said as he walked out of the room. He's probably gonna go outside to smoke or something.
