Prologue

"Give me that!"

"That's mine!"

"No! It's mine!"

Hands at my back, breast out, stomach in, and chin up, I approach my siblings who are brawling. When I looked at the thing that they're holding, what I saw is a body of a hare.

The poor animal is dead. Its blood drips on the floor from its neck. My jaw clenched when I smell its blood, but still, my poise remains. Harold holds on its ears while Hana on its feet.

They were too busy with the thing, that's why they didn't notice me coming. Harold is wearing his gold coat while Hana is wearing her green royal dress. I saw the droplets of blood on their clothes.

"Hana, Harold," I called in a calm voice.

Binitawan nila ang kawawang hayop at hinarap ako. They both gulped upon saying me, wearing my calm face. But I know that they know, I didn't like what they did.

"K-kuya Andres! Hehehehe," Hana wiggles her small fingers at me.

"It's not my fault, Kuya. Hana wants my meat."

"It's mine, Kuya Harold! Kuya Andres, do not listen to him." Hana growled at our brother, exposing her fangs and red eyes.

My nose twitched when I smelled the blood again. It was very tempting for my taste and smell. It's like a drug that wanted to be tasted to be an addiction. But I have to stop myself. I must not do it.

"Huwag kayong mag-away ng dahil sa nilalang na 'yan. Our servants can get you more. Hindi niyo kailangang mag-away. Hana, Harold, act like princes and princesses. Don't wait for the Queen to scold you herself."

Napatungo sila sa sinabi ko at sumimangot. What can I do for them to act as royalties? They always play and brawl around the palace. Harold holds the hare's ear and offered it to Hana. I smirked.

"Hana you can have it. You're younger, you can have it."

But Hana refused. "Na, uh. It's yours now, Kuya. I can have a small bunny na lang. That hare is big like you."

"No, I don't really like hare blood that much."

Oh, come on!

Napagpasyahan kong iwan na lang ang mga kapatid ko. Naglakad-lakad na lang ako sa loob ng palasyo. The spacious hallway has warm and dreamy cozy, perfect for everyone for a stroll. The ceiling is truly grand-looking with those Mexican congressional designs.

The Quera flowers keep praising the beautiful weather today. Maybe they can feel the weather, right? They don't have eyes, nor a mouth, they're flowers. But they can speak, we can hear them. One of them greeted me.

"Good morning, Prince Andres. Nice weather, isn't it?"

"And to you, flower. And yes, it's a nice weather." I smiled at the flower.

"I like your coat today, Your Majesty."

"Oh,"

I am wearing my green coat today, also my crown. I do not fancy myself wearing my crown every day, but I have to. Ako ang pinakamatanda sa aming magkakapatid at ang magmamana ng trono.

That's why I have to wear every day, whenever, wherever. Even in my room alone, I wear my crown.

It's nine in the morning. Clouds are scattered in the sky like smokes blown by the wind. The sky is crystal blue, and that made me smirk. At times like this, someone is obsessed staying at the balcony.

Agad akong pumunta sa pinakamalapit na balcony na mararating ko. And there she is, my sister, Tabitha. She's resting her back on a deck while holding a book.

Nakatagilid siya sa akin. She wears orange dress with puffed sleeves. And there's a tiara on her head. The tiara has vines design with a ruby stone at the center. Before I can greet her, she looked at me and smiled.

"Good morning, Kuya Andres!" her round eyes narrowed because of her wonderful smile at me.

Kahit tinatamaan siya ng araw, her skin won't burn. Royal family of vampires couldn't hurt by sunlight. Only those ordinary ones, that's why Tabitha can stay under the sunlight for a long time.

"And to you, Tabitha," I formally answered and stood beside her.

"I'm waiting for Blair. She will join me reading here." She giggled.

Natigilan ako. Just her? Wala ba siyang ibang kasama?

"You wanna see Alrosa?" she asked suddenly.

I groaned. "Stop reading my mind, Tabitha. I'm your older brother. Follow my order."

I bet she's pouting right now. Sa harap ng balcony ay malawak na damuhan na may mga puno at bulaklak. The wissal flowers beside the palm trees are keep spitting magical notes and g-clefs.

Good thing we are up here. We can't really here them from here. Noisy flowers. I closed my eyes to feel the fresh wind.

"I really like Alrosa. She's kind and pretty. I idolize her and Blair. They are both, amazing vampires. Blair read lots of books. While Alrosa is very good in hunting. You like her, Kuya, 'di ba?"

"I dont fancy Briar Lake, Tabitha."

She groaned. "I'm not pertaining to Blair. I'm pertaining to Alrosa! Huh? Alexa Rosana."

My jaw clenched. "She's a peasant girl." I answered firmly.

She chuckled. "Yes. The only peasant girl you had a dance with."

Hinarap ko ang kapatid ko. I sighed and firmly closed my eyes. "Can we not talk about her?"

She pouted. Her book is now on her lap. "Okay. But can you please answer my question, Kuya? Why can't you drink blood. You are the only vampire who couldn't. Why?"

Hindi ako nakapagsalita sa tanong ng kapatid ko. Yes, I am the only vampire who can't drink a blood. The whole kingdom knows it. We just don't know the reason why.

Every time I drink a blood, I feel weak. That's why I stopped drinking one since I was three. They say maybe I'm a human, that I am not my parents son. But who are they kidding? I have my parents facial features.

And I can't be a human. I have fangs and my eyes turn red. I'm incredibly strong and fast. I have the vampires abilities. That's why I can't be human.

Tabitha, who is five years younger than me, she wants me to marry Alrosa in the future. She really really likes her for me. That girl and I were close since I we are little.

But I pushed her away because there's something happening to me every time I'm close to her. I can smell her blood. At hindi iyon natural para sa isang bampira. Vampires do not smell each other's blood. Natatakot akong atakehin siya. Vampires' bites are fatal to their prey. I don't want her dying because of me. I just...can't.
