The vans pulled up outside the lab. Joyce, Bob, Hopper, Mike, Will and Cassie had all been piled into one of the vans. Will was laying on a stretcher, with an oxygen mask on. He was screaming out in pain and didn't stop the whole journey. Joyce was crying, and Bob had his arms wrapped around her. Hopper just stared at Will. Cassie had tears in her eyes and Mike was shaking. The two kids held onto each other tightly, both too frightened to let go. When the van had come to a stop, doctors and scientists swarmed outside the van and carried Will into the lab. Hopper was taken aside to another room, and the others followed closely behind Will on his stretcher. Will was put in a room, and Joyce was fighting her way through the crowd of doctors. Bob stayed outside with Cassie and Mike, his arms round them both. Cassie couldn't hear much from inside the room, all she could hear was Will's screams. Cassie peered into the room and saw the doctors cutting Will's shirt off, and checking him all over. Bob shielded Cassie's eyes, not wanting her to witness the boy in pain. Mike ran into the room upon hearing Will scream more. Bob and Cassie followed after him.

"Where does it hurt the most Will?" one of the doctors asked.

"Everywhere! " he screamed. Bob was hugging Joyce closely, whilst Cassie and Mike stood to the side, unsure of how to react. The doctors injected Will with something to make him fall asleep. The room fell silent except for Joyce's sobs and the quiet murmurs of doctors.

Once Will was asleep, most of the doctors left the room except for a doctor, Sam Owens. They were all wrapped in blankets and gathered around Will's bed as he slept. Mike had fallen asleep, and Joyce was in another room talking to the Doctors. Hopper was God knows where.

"Hey. Everything is gonna be okay." Bob told Cassie.

"I hope so. Poor Will."

"Try not to think about it too much, he's gonna get the best treatment here. Try thinking of something positive."

"Like what?" she asked Bob, in disbelief that he was so optimistic.

"You could think of that school dance, the... what's it called?"

"You mean the Snow Ball?"

"Yes! Exactly. You can get a pretty dress or something."

"I'm not going."

Bob paused to think, before hesitantly speaking. "Well, you could think about... how you'd feel if I were to adopt you?"

"You want to adopt me?" Cassie was shocked. Bob wanted to adopt her?!

"I know I won't be like your parents Cas, but it would just mean that I'll be your legal guardian until your eighteen. There will be no way you can be put back into the system that way." Cassie turned to Bob and hugged him.

"Thank you." she whispered into his shoulder.

"I'll take that as a yes. Why don't you get some sleep?" Bob told her. She nodded and nestled up against her blanket.

When Cassie woke up again Will was awake and so was Mike. Mike looked confused.

"It's me, big guy. It's Bob." Bob spoke, reaching his hand towards Will, who snatched it away. Will looked behind Bob and stared at Cassie.
