"Aria! Wake up!" Daphne yelled and started pulling the girl out of her bed, pushing off the books that she slept with along with her.
Aria fell on her ass, groaning in pain. What time was it?
"Dear girl. Ten minutes until Transfiguration! I've been waiting for you in the common room," the girl shouted as if she read Aria's mind.
Of course, that's how Aria's first day went. Both girls received a scolding from Professor McGonagall during class for being late, no doubt. On top of that, transfiguration wasn't exactly one of the classes Aria was keen on, so you can imagine the type of impression McGonagall was getting from her.
Defence Against the Dark Arts, on the other hand, Aria had a talent for. Along with Charms and Potions. Professor Quirrell wasn't the greatest teacher much to Aria's knowledge. It was evidently the easiest class Aria could get away with sleeping in. Not like she wasn't getting her education, she was. It was just not from Professor Quirrell.
Professor Snape, though, had Aria's heart stopped. She had the biggest soft spot for Snape and knowing that he was going to be gone... The Slytherin couldn't bear with such an idea. He was rough around the edges, but what diamond wasn't?
Snape's death wasn't going to happen this time. At least, not in the hands of Voldemort. Not when Aria was going to meddle in.
As for Flying, Aria didn't feel it was needed for her future endeavors, but she was intrigued by it. She always wondered what kind of sensation flying would be like. Was it like a rollercoaster? Or riding a bike? Or maybe like driving a car for the first time?
Her class was with Gryffindor, so she was highly anticipating the Malfoy Potter quarrel, especially getting a chance to see Harry fly the first time.
"I'm so nervous," Daphne frowned as the two made their way to the ground.
"What for?" Aria raised her brow.
"Flying, of course!" she seemed to raise her voice, "How are you never nervous, Aria?"
"What do you mean, Daphne?"
"I mean, you take everything head on. Have you no fear? Like when we got sorted or how you told Pansy off."
"Pansy doesn't scare me. She's just Pansy."
"Well does anything scare you? I'd like to see it," Daphne joked.
Aria did fear. She was scared her friendship with Iris was worsening. She was scared that she might not be able to succeed in saving people. She was scared Iris might be right, that what she was doing could potentially kill more than intended.
But she wasn't going to share that, especially to an eleven year old Daphne Greengrass.
"I'm scared of bugs."
"Piss off," Daphne shoved Aria ahead, causing the other girl to laugh.
Together, they arrived at the grounds along with some Gryffindors trailing behind them, each standing next to a broomstick. Half the class seemed excited while the other were more than nervous. Aria noticed from the corner of her eyes that Malfoy particularly was excited for flying. He wouldn't shut up about it the first week of classes. It was Quidditch this and Quidditch that. Let's not even mention all his complaints about how First Years couldn't play.
Madam Hooch quickly introduced herself before starting to give the class instructions, "Stick out your right hand over your broom and say 'Up!'"
Everyone began shouting 'Up!' in unison.
To Aria's surprise, the broom went straight into the palm of her hands, along with Harry. Both of their eyes widened as they received compliments from Madam Hooch. Aria had no idea she could do that.
