Jingle...
The bells alerted the cashier of the new customers that arrived inside the old beaten down 7/11. Well, it was supposed to if they bothered to take their eyes off of their cell phone for a matter of two minutes. The heavy glass and metal doors swung shut behind Octobr and I while the scent of fresh air was replaced with stale nachos, cigarette smoke, and alcohol. Ah, our lovely little convenience store was so welcoming.
Octobrs stunning, nearly silver eyes were big, taking in the environment surrounding her. This happened to be another one of her favorite places to travel to because we could get away with just about anything here on account of the shitty employees that the managers who never bothered to show up ended up hiring. Her eyes darted around a bit until they landed on the aged slushy machine. It was due for a cleaning, that was for sure, but that machine made the best damn slushies that had ever had the priviledge to meet my taste buds.
"Jimmy, let's get a couple," Octobr suggested with shining eyes.
"Yeah, okay."
I smirked, knowing she wouldn't notice because she was slightly drunk, and grabbed the two largest cups. I filled mine to the brim, loading it with a swig of each flavor, and handed October her cup. She filled it up nearly to the top with one single flavor, cherry, which was the only flavor she ever gave a chance. I chugged almost half of it in fast, large gulps. She stared at me with slight confusion while taking sips out of her long scoop straw. I paced down an isle with her behind me and grabbed all kinds of our favorite junk foods. I threw the cup down, the slushy spilling all around our feet, and Octobr shot me a glare.
"What are you doing?"
I smirked once more.
"Trashing this dump. I'm feeling a bit bored." I shrugged, opening a bag of Frito's, and shoving a few into my mouth.
The honey barbecue flavor burst on my taste buds and I crunched away. Octobr was looking around making sure we were still unnoticed. I knew we were. She was just being her paranoid self. I pushed a Frito up to her oh-so-perfect lipstick stained lips. She stared at it, and then stole it away from my fingers with her long tongue, and ate it in an instant. I handed her the bag which she took happily. She ate a handful and then threw the remaining ones across the store with a chuckle. I don't think she would ever do something that disrespectful sober. I chuckled taking it in while I could.
Still we went unnoticed. We opened bag after bag of chips and threw them all over the floor of all the isles furthest from the cash register. I pushed Octobr over into the floor causing chips to crunch beneath her figure and climbed on top of her throwing a million packs of tic tacs on her. Some clattered to the floor, bursting, rolling every which way. She smiled up at me a smile that resembled the twinkling stars appearing in the sky. I smiled back down at her, bringing my face close to hers. She smelled like booze, and barbecue chips. The thought of kissing her made my mouth water with want.
I bit my lip, tearing my eyes away from hers. She was intoxicated and I wasn't going to take advantage of her. I happen to be a gentleman even though my attitude doesn't quite make that example of myself well known. It would also ruin our friendship. I blinked a few times opening up one of the cooling units that held the drinks, and grabbed a beer with my "sticky fingers." I popped it open as I stood. I tilted my head back, downing each drop in seconds out of the thought of her never truly being mine in the way I craved.
Octobr got up, and started to toss candy bars in the floor. She didn't pay no mind to my change of emotion. She just stomped away on the merchandise having a ball.
"HEY, what the FUCK are you guys doing?!"
My eyes left the beer bottle in my hands, and met the workers blazing brown eyes. I tossed the bottle to the floor shattering it, and drawing Octobrs attention.
"Shit." she muttered under her breath scattering behind me for protection from the authority figure.
"Whatever the hell we want to do, what's it to you?" I chuckled, and grabbed Octobr's hand.
We bolted out of that convenience store like the wind with the employee running after us with his fists shaking. Octobr was laughing, which was good, considering a true laugh from her was so rare. We made it back to the underpass out of breath and hysterical. I plopped in the pastel pink chair. Octobr hopped up on my lap, and laid her head onto my shoulder. She buried her face in the crease of my neck and was snoring almost instantaneously. I wanted this moment to last forever with her hair in my face and her scent surrounding my being. This was golden.
