Tan groaned when he woke up, rolling into where Luke usually slept, only to find that his mate was missing. That made Tan jump up, rushing downstairs to find his mate. He tried to pick up on his mate's strong rut scent, but he only found traces of it on the couch and then it was gone.
"He's with Kai," Astra said, sitting in the living area, her pups laying on the floor and rolling onto their stomachs, babbling while they did so. "They'll be back in a couple of hours."
Tan walked over to her and sat down, scooping Nova, Astra's daughter up. "Are they running? When will they be back?" he asked, watching as Nova pulled on his shirt with her tiny fist.
"They went for a drive up north to the mall center," Astra responded. "I think Luke wanted to get to know the area or something."
"Is he feeling better?" Tan asked, worried his mate's rut would act up while he was gone.
Astra could sense his worry. "He's going to be fine. Kai will keep him in check if his rut flares up, don't worry," she said in a soothing voice, making Tan visibly calm down.
Tan sighed and set Nova back down on the blanket in front of her mom. "Fine, I'm going to go talk to Calix," he said, hopping up.
"About?"
"Drug deals and porn. Normal guy stuff."
Astra rolled her eyes. "See you later," she said as Tan walked off to Calix's office.
He could hear soft moans coming through the door, making him gag in his mouth. "Calix, I need to talk to you whenever you and your mate are done with your current situation," he called through the door, hearing an embarrassed squeak.
Kegan opened the door with a red face, biting his bottom lip. "Hi, we were just..."
Tan winced. "Please, for the love of the moon goddess, do not tell me what you were doing," he begged, falling to his knees to emphasize his pleading.
"You're always welcome to join us, Tan," Calix called before looking grossed out by his own words. "Actually, forget I said that, because then Luke will want in on it."
"You're probably right," Tan said with a fond smile on his face. "He'd probably love a foursome, but you're too much like a sibling to me, Calix."
Calix chuckled. "Yeah," he said, leaning back in his chair and looking at the baby monitor. "What did you need?"
As soon as he finished asking, the baby monitor began to echo with cries of one of their babies.
"I'll get them, don't worry," Kegan said, walking off to their room and closing the office door as he did so.
Tan sat down on the chair in front of Calix's desk, tapping his foot. "I need your help."
Calix narrowed his eyes slightly. "Why do I feel like this is something that you're keeping from everyone expect me?"
"Because it is."
"What's going on?"
Tan glanced at the door, listening for any potential eavesdroppers before he dropped his voice so no one could overhear anyway.
"Do you have any details on the Alphas who took off when we killed Leon?" Tan asked, thinking back to the group of high ranking Alphas from Leon's pack who deserted when their leader was killed.
Calix opened a file and looked at all of his notes, shaking his head. "No. We know it's a group of five strong Alphas and we know for sure that two of them have Omega mates that they dragged off with them," he said, scanning the notes he'd taken. "Why?"
