december 7th

"and you just.. left?"

jonah sighed, nodding his head for what felt like the millionth time. "yes."

esther, from where she sat on the couch, bursted out with laughter. "jonah you're so dumb, i cant believe you." she managed to get out after composing herself. "eben has been madly in love with you since he first laid eyes on you."

"no." he shook his head, holding onto the warm mug between his hands.

"yes." she rolled her eyes. "and you just left him in los angeles? sometimes i wonder how you managed to get a girlfriend."

"hey." he pouted, kicking her lightly. "don't be mean."

"i'm just saying," she shrugged her shoulders. "you should call him."

"i'm good."

"jonah. call him."

jonah stayed quiet while his sister left the living room. he grumbled to himself, pulling his phone out of his pocket. he held it up to his face, letting it unlock. he went to the bottom of his screen, clicking on the call application. his thumb hovered over the green square, before deciding against it.

"care to explain why we are walking, in the cold, at three in the morning when i could be cuddled by my very strong and, might i mention, warm boyfriend?"

daniel smiled down at him, the best he could with his mask on. "i'm taking you on a date."

"a date." corbyn said with the roll of his eyes.

"yes. because as you can see, no one is out right now, which means i can do this," daniel laced their gloved fingers together. "this," he took his mask down to kiss his forehead. "and this." he took corbyn's mask down to peck his cold lips, before pulling their masks over their nose. "it's a win for me."

"you're a dork." he squeezed his hand, moving closer to him. "where are we going anyway?"

"to get hot chocolate at the best café in town." he exclaimed, presenting lotties café with his arm.

"you hate hot chocolate." corbyn pointed out.

"well one, it's a café, and two," daniel opened the door. "her hot chocolate is the only hot chocolate i will ever have."

"aren't you allergic?" corbyn snickered, stepping into the warm area. the café was very 50's, the booths were blue along with the barstools. the floor was a checkered pattern, and the walls were bubblegum pink. it was cute, and corbyn very much liked it.

"i'm allergic to life, that's not stopping me though." he grinned, pulling corbyn over to the counter where lottie was.

"daniel!" she gasped. lottie was a small, fragile old lady. daniel's been coming to the café since he was in middle school, and honestly, lottie could be his grandmother at this point. "how are you honey?"

"i'm good, lottie. this is corbyn."

lottie gasped yet again. "oooh the corbyn?"

"i just told her about us about... three or four months ago." daniel explained. "and yes, this is the corbyn."

"oh! take off your mask, sweetheart! let me see the face!"

corbyn laughed lightly, unhooking the mask from his ear, letting it hang. lottie cooed, her hands going over her heart. corbyn felt his cheeks grow warm, letting himself be pulled closer to daniel.

"so what can i get for you guys?" she asked after pulling herself together. corbyn put his mask back on, relaxing against his boyfriend, feeling the low rumble from his ask he spoke.

"c'mon bug." he nodded over to the large to go cup in front of him. "let's sit."

daniel lead them over to the booth towards the back of the café, both of them sitting next to each other. corbyn laid one of his legs over daniel's, the other under his thigh. daniel's hand was on top of his knee. the two took their masks off, daniel immediately sweeping down to kiss him. corbyn smiled into the kiss, cupping his cheeks.

"i love you." he whispered, kissing corbyn once again.

corbyn's heart was going to explode. he wrapped his arms around his neck, feeling nothing but love for daniel. "thank you." he whispered. for the date. they never get to go on dates.

"anything for you, bug."
