Your return

The fall air blew through your thick short hair. You looked up to the castle as you stepped foot onto the grounds. The next semester has already started and your a month late but being stuck in Dorset chasing Griffin's from farm lands was hard work. But at last you made it to the hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. The great dark oak doors creaked opened as Hagrid stepped through. The half Giants hair was messy and he was covered in what looked like to pumpkin juice. He noticed you and tilted his head. "do yer need somethin', lad?" He asked. "Oh no, Hagrid. Dumbledore called upon me." You stated calmly. The half man half Giant looked at you confused before he saw the tinyest glint of bravery in your eyes, along with the hidden love for magic. "y/n! Meh God! Well, I'll bust my brakets! Tis 'eally yu!" He yelled. "Shhh! No one knows I'm here yet!" You scolded him. "Sorry. The'r in the 'reat hall, y/n." You nodded bid him a goodnight as you walked into the castle.

Following the hall to the great Hall. Your nose filled with all kinds of smells. Your Animagus form was a dire wolf and it gave you the power to tap into into it's senses as anytime. So you pretty much used them all the time. The low voices of children flowed to your ears as you pushed open the main doors. The creaking made the students turn their heads as you entered unexpectedly. Dumbledore stood and hurriedly around the table to greet you. "Y/n! My dear child! Where have you been!?" He asked, concern laced his voice and features. "Chasing Griffin's out of farming land in Dorset." You replied. There was whispering among the students. Over Dumbledore's shoulder you noticed Umbridge but didn't dare say anything. "We expected you a month ago!" Dumbledore was like your father. He actually stepped up to be your guardian while you went to the school as both your parents were thrown into Azkaban for Killing three muggles.

"Yes I'm sorry. I was busy." You stated hurriedly. The nosie grew louder and your ears started to ring. The pain from the ringing was a little much for you. "SILENCE." Roared Albus. He brought you for a tight embrace and calmed you. "your home now." He lead you to the teachers table and sat you next to him...or rather on the arm of his throne like chair. "um.. headmaster, shouldn't she be with the students?" Asked a very annoying voice. "Umbridge..this is my adoptive daughter Y/n l/n. She belongs to Esther and Dean l/n." He spoke softly.  You didn't pay mind to him as a certain man caught your eye. Severus Snape, or aka Sev The Half blood Prince. Your mind floated back to when you were in your houses as children.

Your yellow and black Hufflepuff scarf blowing in the wind. To you it didn't matter what time of year it was you still wore your scarf, you following close behind Severus Snape down to the black lake in a Saturday morning with a tray of small sandwiches floating after you two. He was staring at you with his dark eyes. He nose has been broken a few times by the hooked looked. The years of stress etched in to his face. Dumbledore tapped you. "Come with me. I'll have your house elf bring you dinner." He said. "Kraven is still alive?" You asked in disbelief. "Oh yes." With that Albus walked away followed by you.

Once in his office he smiled. "You'll be staying up here with me." He said as Kraven held up your plate. "Thank you Kraven!" You patted his head. He was taller than the normal house self, his ears and nose weren't as big as others and he had these big blue curious eyes that adorned his face. "Your welcome master." He stated before appariting off again. Only the house elfs, and your 'father' could do that. "So what's my job again?" You asked stuffing your face full of Mandarin oranges, your favorite fruit. "Your a guard, and if you could, you'll be helping Umbridge in the dark arts department."

"Why not let severus! At Least he'll do a better bloody job than I! I work with magical creatures. Let me help Hagrid out!"

He sighed. "I knew you would do this. You'll work in both departments. One every other day at night you'll patrol." You smiled. "Thank you father." He nodded as the staff and barging in. "Who is she!" They roared. You jumped in your seat slightly. "Minerva, I'm surprised you didn't remember your prized transfiguration student, y/n l/n or fillius, your perfect charms students,
Pomona your Herbology assistant and head girl and perfect, Madame Hooch your number one chaster...you all know her." You smiled up at them. Realizing that it's been over twenty one years since they seen you. McGonagall smiled. "Y/n! Oh my your what 35 now?" She was the person you wanted to have as mother and she was there by your side at anytime if day or night. The dark figure you saw was Severus and he was  lurking in the corner. "Hey grease head!" You called over to him.

You could hear a growl come from him. "long time no see? Can't even get a hello from you? Just gonna lurk in the corner? I'm James and I'm Sirius or lupin or Peter. I'm still your Hufflepuff." There was no change in his expression as he stayed where he was. "I don't mingle with commoners." He said giving Albus a look before leaving. "What's his issue father?" Your years of living in Scotland had giving you a good Scottish drawl to your voice. "Dolores Umbridge. You may be?" There was lady in pink who you knew. "Yeah I worked under you as a magical creature catcher. I know who you are." You growled to her. Her smell was over powering and plus the faint smell of cats was in her person. "Oh my." She smiled at you. But you knew there was a hidden meaning. "Y/n...l/n...Y/n Dumbledore-l/n." You didn't properly take albus' last name but you used in case of emergency's like when someone threatened you. "Dumbledore?" She asked questioningly.

"I am his adoptive daughter."  You nodded. "Ah.." she turned on he left heels and left. "Father? Instead of staying here could I have the west tower? No one uses it anymore since it used to the old astronomy tower." You asked. He nodded. "alright." You smiled. "Thank you!" "Your so very welcomed."

Once in your room you got busy. Conjuring up a bed, chairs, a loveseat, down tables, a coffee table, two bed side tables, a few lamps and your things from your Dorset house. "Welcome home!" You yelled and turned to the door as it opened.  Severus stepped in. "Sorry...I didn't think anyone was up here." He coughed softly. "Oh no. Come on in. Your fine." He stepped in, quickly shoving his hands into the pockets of his black jacket. "Go enjoy the view. I know that's why you came." You pointed towards the railed into balcony to which he strode over to it quickly. "So the precious Y/n l/n Dumbledore returns?" He asked, putting emphasis on Dumbledore.

"Yes." You replied, walking towards him. Even at your age you still acted like a child. Your Hufflepuff scarf was now drapped over his shoulders. He pulled it off of him and looked at it. "I'm not a child. I am a grown man." Severus held it out towards you and you grabbed it. "We if your a grown man you wouldn't mind leaving my room." You growled pointing towards the door.

All you wanted to do was greet your best friend. Who like you lost someone so very dear to you. "Severus! I said to get out!" You roared as the man dipped his head left. That man clearly wasn't your friend anymore only a shadow and hollow shell of what he once was. Tomorrow was a new day. So it would be a knew start.

The next morning you were first into the great hall but oyur form was your wolf. The dark copper and cream fur blew slightly from the breeze. You sat infront of the grand table.  Dhmbled walked in and smiled at you. "Good morning y/n." He greeted you with a pat, soon enough more students entered the hall while you sat there. The elves had made up a plate just for you. There were whispers again from the students. 

Dumbledore had told each head of house to not be afraid of you and to tell tbe students not to be either. Severus strode in. He looked pissed there was a few cat scratches on his face. You lifted Your nose at him. "Don't. You. Dare. Do. It." He growled walking past you. But not befkre giving your head a good scratch." You let let a whelp and turned to Umbridge quickly. Growling.  "Oh hush" she tapped your nose and walked off. She had kicked you! This day couldn't get any worse.
