You Can't Always Have the Best of Both Worlds: Chapter 4

Blackness. That is all I saw. I couldnt feel or see anything. I faintly heard my name being called, but I dont know by who. I wanted to tell them im fine, but I couldnt find my voice to do so. What felt like hours was only minutes when I felt someone shake me.

"Caitlyn! Caitlyn! Wake up!" Someone was yelling at me and shaking me.

Im dead right? That voice was too beautiful to belong to anyone on earth. I wanted to tell the angel to stop worrying and tell them im fine. They didnt need to be sad I was in a better place. But then I felt like I was being brought back to my body. I opened my eyes to see Kaiden leaning over me along with Luke. So Kaiden was the one yelling and shaking me? I looked around and noticed that I was on the classroom floor with everyone in the class staring at me. 

Kaiden noticed I wanted to get up into a sitting position and he helped me up. I put a hand to my head when I sat up. Someone needs to make the room stop spinning. The feeling came as quickly as it passed.

"Are you alright?" the teacher asked.

I nodded.

"Kaiden will you take her to the nurse just in case?"

Kaiden nodded and helped me off the floor. We walked out of the classroom with his arm wrapped around my waist for support.

"Who is Alex?" Kaiden asked after a couple of minutes of silence. Should I tell him? Maybe he should know. If hes around me he will have to deal with Alex.

"Alex..." I started trying to figure out how I should say this "is lets just say is a crazy ex boyfriend" Yeah that was a good way to put it.

He nodded and asked "What did he do?"

Oh maybe I shouldnt tell him that part. That could get him in trouble if he knew. Alex would hunt him down. Who knows what Alex would do to him. But maybe Kaiden could keep Alex away? I dont know.

"Ill just tell you the gist" He nodded as in to tell me to continue. "Alex was my first boyfriend. We met Freshman year. Hes involved in a gang and lets just say he wasnt always respectful. We got in a lot of fights. He abused me when I did or said things he didnt like. He was very obsessive also. He broke up with me a year later and left. He comes back every so often to visit his sister and he looks for me and finds me and let me tell you its not pretty" I finished and I had to take a giant breath after saying all that. Tears threatened to fall after remembering all the times he hurt me. Some fell and Kaiden turned me to where my face was against his chest.

He held me tight as I sobbed into his shirt tear staining it. After a couple of minutes he pulled away and wipped my tears away with his thumb.

"I have no idea why I told you all that. I just met you today" I  said letting out a shaky laugh.

"No Caitlyn im happy you did" I looked up at his face and saw his face was serious. He wrapped me into another hug.

"I wont let him hurt you Caitlyn. He will have to hurt me before he hurts you ever again"

"I dont want him to hurt you Kaiden. It would kill me"

"He wont hurt me. You dont know this about me but im a fighter"

"Seriously?" I asked in disbelief

"Yeah no joke" He said smirking down at me

"Wow thats not something you hear everyday"

"Yeah, but Caitlyn can I ask you something?"

"Yeah sure anything"

"We only have known each other for a day, but I feel like I have known you my whole life. I really like spending time with you and I feel like I can talk to you about anything. I wanna be there to protect you. So would you be my girlfriend?"

I stared at him in disbelief. Is he serious?

"Really?"

"Yes really" He said smiling

"Well then yes I would love to be your girlfriend"

Then he kissed me. After a second I kissed him back. I wrapped my arms around his neck to pull him closer to me. He put his hands on my waist and it felt like my skin was on fire from his touch. After a couple of minutes we broke apart to catch our breath.

He smiled at me and grabbed my hand leading me back to school.

"Where are we going?" I asked

"To the nurse"

"Why?"

"So she will let you go home. School is almost over so there no point in going back to class now for you"

I nodded. After the nurse he walked me to my car. He kissed me before I got in. Just as I was about to open my door he but he put his hands on either side of me blocking me from going anywhere. I turned so we were face to face.

"I really wish you would let me drive you home"

"No I have to meet my sister at her photo shoot right after school"

"Your sister is a model?"

"Yeah I forgot you didnt know. Everyone else here knows"

"Oh thats cool. Your so pretty maybe you should be a model as well" He said kissing me quickly.

"Haha yeah right. Now move I need to get home" I said playful shoving him

"Alright alright" He chuckled and put his hands up in defeat.

I got in my car and waved to him and drove home.
