Crystal's POV

I kept my gaze locked outside and watched my sister and Luke make their way towards the entrance way of the building. When they entered I caught sight of Isabelle who had my bow in her hand and my mother's family ring. I smiled. Isabelle and Magnus had no doubt figured out why I left my mother's ring. I turned back to Valentine.

"Could I go back to my mother?" I asked. I felt bad as Jace was hearing the lies that Jocelyn had abandoned him. I couldn't stay in the room with them and watch as Jace's heart broke even more. Valentine nodded.

"Pangborn!" He yelled causing the door to open and reveal the man who had held a knife to my back. I smirked when I caught sight of the black eye he was sporting knowing that it had to be Jonathan who had got him. "Lead Crystal back to her mother's room." The man nodded and moved out of the way as I made my way towards him. He shut the door behind us as I slid the picture frame into an inside jacket pocket. Pangborn then moved in front of me and led me toward my mother's room. I rolled my eyes at his ignorance, hearing the hushed voices of Luke, Clary and Isabelle.

"Hey Pangborn. Where'd you get the black eye?" I wanted to know if I was right. He ignored me and continued walking. I stopped as I heard the voices get louder until they were behind me. I smirked and slipped a knife out of my jacket as Pangborn turned around. I drew my hand back and let the knife fly before it landed in his shoulder. "Should've known I would get my own payback. I don't need my big brother fighting my fights." I said lowly, before I moved toward the man and kicked him in the shins causing him to fall. I grabbed his head and bashed it against the wall knocking him out. "About time the cavalry arrived." I said as I caught sight of Clary and the other two. Clary looked like she was about to protest what I just did but I stopped her. "I just knocked him out Rissa."

"Where's Jace and mom?" Clary asked.

"In the first room you passed. Iz, Luke come with me." I say, causing them to listen. I watch as Clary tentatively opens the door and Iz and Luke join my side. I led the two down the hallway as Isabelle handed me my bow and mother's ring. I slipped the ring back into its place as I notched an arrow. "There are other Circle members as we get closer to the room she's in." I explained.

Izzy's whip slithered off her wrist and Luke pulled out a Kindjal dagger that had a distinctive M carved on the hilt with a star underneath it. There were only two members standing outside my mother's room. I let the arrow fly and quickly notched another. Before I could release it though, Isabelle caught both his hands in her whip. Luke moved toward the man and knocked him out as I opened the door. Luke rushed to her side as I looked around the room and noticed Jonathan hiding in the shadows. I lowered my bow as I moved toward my mom. "Iz, can you get her back to the Institute?" I asked my parabatai. She nodded and pulled out her phone and called Magnus.

Luke and I left the room and headed back towards the first room. "Are you ready to face your old parabatai?" I asked the only man that had been a constant in my life since Mom and I left Idris.

"Never, but I'm right behind you." Luke replied as he pushed open the door causing me to tighten my grip on my bow.

"Finally all three of my children, together at last." Valentine said as he caught sight of me. I looked over at Clary and saw the same heartbreak in her eyes that was in Jace's earlier. "Crystal, why don't you explain to your sister what I'm referring to."

"Jace... " I take a deep breath. "Jace is my twin. Your older brother, Rissa."

Clary turned toward Jace and spoke to him as I glared at my father. I didn't bother to pay attention to what she told him until Valentine spoke.

"She doesn't want to believe it." Valentine said, causing me to glance toward my sister and Jace. "Because she's in love with you."

"It's not true. Luke said our brother was killed in a fire with our grandparents." Clary said as she turned toward me. "He looks nothing like you, Crys."
