Crystal's POV
"What the hell are you doing here?" I question as Jace joins me."Can you both step outside so I can talk to you privately." Luke asks.
"Jace you stay here. I'll come with you Luke." I say stopping Jace from leaving.
"Firecracker..." Jace started but stopped when I glared at him.
"I'll be fine, Jace." I tell him as Alec walks over to us and holds him in place. I follow after Luke who leads me through the streets and stops in front of a house. He knocked and a woman who shared the same blue eyes as Luke opened the door. I instantly recognized her as Stephen's first wife, Amatis.
"Who is this Lucian?" She asked.
"Clary's older sister."
"Crystal Morgenstern returned home at last." Amatis mutters as she lets us both in.
"Luke what's going on?" I question as I see a feverish Clary.
"She created a portal rune and brought us here after Magnus told us what happened." Luke explained.
"Dammit, Rissa. You shouldn't have come." I mutter as I brush my sister's fiery red hair away from her face. I look up at Luke. "I have to get back. Jace already got mad once when I left without telling him. But please keep me updated." I say as I head back out the door. I was only a block away from Amatis's when I nearly screamed as a figure stepped out in front of me.
"Easy, Fallen Star. It's just me." Jonathan said.
"You have got to stop doing that and stop following me." I mutter as I keep walking. I only stop when he grabs my arm.
"Wait. I wanted to go on and give you your birthday present." He says. I sigh and look at him and wait. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a familiar dog tag with the word sister engraved on it. As he handed it to me I pulled out the one I had seen in Diana's shop and handed it to him. "Happy birthday." He said as I read the tag. I smiled and laughed as I realized that both tags said the same thing.
"Thanks, Jon." I said I slipped the chain over my head and let the tag rest against my chest. "We should be heading back before the Lightwoods send out a search party."
He said nothing as we walked back to the Penhallow's in silence. When we entered the house I glanced up at the two oldest Lightwood siblings and Jace. I pointed up the steps and began walking up them with them following. We walked into Isabelle and Aline's shared room and Jace shut the door behind us.
"What's going on?" Jace asked.
"Clary created a portal and brought herself and Luke here. She's staying at Luke's sisters until the lake water gets out of her system. I thought leaving her in New York would be safer for her." I said as calmly as I could.
"How..."
"She's as stubborn as the both of us. What did you expect." I say to the blonde boy. "I'll head over there tomorrow and try and convince her to go back home. I don't want her here and hearing all the whispers."
None of us say anything as Aline walks in. "Sorry, umm, our parents want to talk to you, Jace and Crystal." Aline said before Jace, and I share a look before we follow Aline out and head back downstairs and into the kitchen. Jace and I both sat at the table and waited for someone to break the silence.
"You can go now Aline." Jia Penhallow said. Aline left the room and had to practically drag Jonathan away from the doorway. I looked at the older woman and realized that both the Penhallow's had once been a part of Valentine's Circle. "The only reason you two are even staying here is because the Lightwoods have vouched for you." Patrick Penhallow says, staring directly at me. "I swore I'd never have anything to do with Valentine again and that included his children."
