CHAPTER 8: YOU WHAT?

“you- you …kissed johnny?” nari uttered out. mark nodded his head with guilt, ashamed of telling nari the truth. her face wasn’t angry, but she seemed to have mixed emotions.

“you have every right to be mad nari, it was my wrong doing. i took advantage of your boyfriend and i take full responsibility for it. i’m so sorry, i didn’t want it to happen but it did. it was my fault, and i was in the wrong…” mark spoke sadly.

“i’m not angry.” nari suddenly said. “i’m just… confused. i don’t really know what to say. i believe you when you say it’s not your fault— that i believe, but then it’s just… johnny… he told me he loved me the day after…” nari admitted to the canadian.

mark gasped slightly at those words. johnny hadn’t told mark that he said i love you to nari yet. why hadn’t he mentioned that when they met up at his place prior? “he said he loved you?” mark blurted out in shock. nari nodded disappointedly.

“had he not told you?” nari asked. mark shook his head no. nari raised a brow, “that’s strange… i would think he’d tell others. you- you don’t think he would lie to me? r-right?” nari said, now feeling doubtful about her boyfriend’s words.

mark waved his arms in a ’no’ motion. “no, there’s no way! don’t think that, and this isn’t your fault. it’s mine, and i don’t know why johnny hadn’t told me? johnny talks about you all the time, he tries to see you all the time nari. don’t say that…”

nari sighed as she sat up. “i… i must go. i’m gonna call johnny and we’ll talk about this. this is now between us and our relationship. but mark, thank you for telling me yourself. it means a lot knowing you’re being truthful to me.” nari said with a weak smile.

“o-of course...” mark replied. “i couldn’t hide this from you, even if i tried. johnny is your boyfriend and my bestfriend. i can’t ruin that.” nari nodded as she grabbed her bag and her drink.

“i’ll see you soon… thank you again for telling me…” nari responded and mark nodded once more before watching nari walk into the distance.

nari stood at johnny’s door with disappointment painted all over her face.

“mark told me johnny, you can’t deny it. why would mark lie about such a thing? why didn’t you tell me sooner? why, just tell me!” nari said as she started to feel tears dwell in her eyes. “you told me you loved me johnny! you said it to me first!”

“baby, please—“ johnny tried to speak before nari cut him off once more with her fueling anger in her soul.

“don’t ‘baby’ me johnny! this is serious! we’ve been dating each other for more than 6 months and you can’t even tell me you did something wrong before telling me i love you? are you fucking kidding me right now?” nari scolded him.

“i’m sorry okay! w-we were drunk and it was our mistake and i take responsibility for it! i’m sorry that i messed up okay? but don’t doubt that i don’t love you, because i do! nari, you make me so happy, you are my entire world!” johnny exclaimed.

nari stayed silent as she looked at him with tears down her cheeks. “if you truly love me, then why couldn’t you tell me in the first place? why?” she asked. “answer me johnny!” she screamed at him as she pushed him. suddenly, nari gasped to herself at a realization.

“unless,” nari suddenly spoke. “you- you like mark…? is that why you agreed to kiss him?”
