I groaned as I heard Max and Steel arguing upstairs. From the muffled noise I was hearing, they had to be talking about what happened. I'm sure even Sydney was surprised when I gave her Max a punch before going off inside of the bus. Heck, Max had the nerve to fly to our apartments just to wait for me.

Sure, I was supposed to head over to N-Tek. But my emotions were pretty unstable right now. Especially when I kept seeing images flashing in my mind, showing Max and Sydney laughing and having a good time.

Was is bad that I wanted to hurt Sydney and any other girl who tries to get close to Max? Yes. Have I already started losing my sanity because of love? Partially.

Max fricking McGrath stole my heart the moment I laid eyes on him. He was mine. And yet, he plays it off as if we're friends sharing secrets, ogling at Sydney who is his crush. For all Max cared, I would only be dead to him if I revealed his identity as Max Steel.

But I wasn't going to do that. Being petty just because I was jealous doesn't give me the right to tell people who Max Steel is. Villains would hear the rumors and they'll trace everything back to me.

Then I remembered about Dredd. He knew my dad. And before he knew N-Tek, nonetheless.

I scrambled off my bed and went straight to the spare bedroom where we kept my dad's stuff. I opened the first box and the musty scent of age hit me hard.

I gagged while sifting through the contents until I felt a bundle of paper. Carefully pulling it out, I saw the front cover of the newspaper had my dad standing in front of the school with a couple of other people. One I recognized as Thornhill. 'Ew. Thornhill knew my dad.' I thought.

I then pull my phone out of my pocket and search for anything on Dredd.

Results showed the name Miles Dredd and a picture of said man. Comparing it to the newspaper version, he was the guy literally next to my dad. And they had that vibe of being friends for who knows how long.

I scrolled through the information and one thing caught my eye. "Deceased? He looked pretty alive when he came for Max earlier." I mumbled to no one. Glancing back to the newspaper, I read the article.

"Highschool graduates F/n L/n and Miles Dredd standing in front of Copper Canyon Highschool, next to Dr. Thornhill. 'With how much Thornhill pushed us to put in our all, it's why we're here today. Miles and I have always competed to be the best in our desired career fields.' F/n stated. 'We've been competitive since we met in preschool. I've always been faster than F/n and he's always been more strategic. Always racing for the top. That's all we want in life.' Dredd had answered." I read.

I tilted my head as my gaze went back to the picture. They looked so happy together. How did they end up this way in life? What made Dredd crazy for Max's Turbo Energy?

"Y/n? What are you looking at?" My mom's voice asked from behind me. I turn to look at her and her gaze falls on the newspaper. "You're curious about your father, aren't you?" She asked, a frown settling on her face. Mom kneels down and takes the newspaper into her hands.

"Miles and your father had the tightest friendship I'd ever seen. Your father was devastated when news of Miles' death. Even though this happened back when you were a few months old. I get the feeling that we moved away because your father wanted to bury the past behind him." Mom explained.
