Gem walked towards Fred feeling happier than she had felt that whole month like always when he waited for her he had his hand outstretched for her to grab , she laid her and in his and without a word he began walking leading them somewhere unbeknownst to her , but Gem had learned to not question Fred because she would only be met with a mischievous smile , as they walked to somewhere she had never been she remembered this was supposed to be off limits to them but here she was walking up the stairs with Fred hand in hand not a care if she got caught and got in trouble. When they made it to the top Gem squeezed Fred's a bit too hard when they reached the edge and as she looked out she loosened the grip on his hand staring out at the view in amazement , she was too lost in the view she didn't realize Fred had let go of her hand and place something in it once she felt something cold she looked at her hand , it was a small pendent and what seemed to be a constellation engraved on it but when she brought it closer she noticed it was the Gemini constellation "I know its not much compared to the necklace you have on and I noticed you wear it everyday with the snake pendent so I thought you could add it to the chain you already have" Gem couldn't take her eyes off the pendent that laid in her hand making Fred nervous making him speak again "it's okay if you don't like it I know it's not something extravagant I just thought it would be something thoughtful but I can take it back" she looked at him her yes glossing over at the thought that he cared so much what she thought about the gift , something she wasn't used to , "no no I absolutely love it , it's actually really nice" she unclipped her necklace adding the new pendent though when she was tying to clip it back she struggled making Fred come behind her offering to help her. She had enveloped him into a hug this time having no second thoughts about going full force into him , almost pushing him back , but after he managed to stabilize himself they stood together Fred swaying them back and forth , and though Gem had felt some sort of awkwardness probably from not being used to affection when she hugged Fred it wasn't something simple she felt secure and safe. After they made their way towards the hall to enjoy dinner and this time when he pulled her to his table she didn't argue she let it be , but now she had become increasing aware of all the stares and looks of disgust she would get and after hours and hours of conversations with Snape she had come to the conclusion that the other people were extremely biased based on things that they had heard about but none of those applied to Gem just because she was in Slytherin didn't mean she was evil yet she felt she had to prove it. The one person she had never noticed stare at her was Dumbledore he had always seem to know everything about everything and everyone and when this girl with the last name Malfoy came to school he had told Severus to keep an eye on her because he had been afraid that the girl was just like her father and when he was informed by Severus that the girl had formed a friendship with the Weasley's he didn't believe it but Snape insisted that she was the opposite of her father yet Dumbledore couldn't put his mind at ease he insisted that Lucius had or would put his daughter up to something. Snape had come to love the girl like a daughter he wished he had , he imagined that if the girl he once loved loved him back then Gemini would have been the product of them because despite her intelligence she was ever so humble and yet so cunning and caring , he was always worried about her because of the friendships she found herself in he knew her father would never approve and he also knew that Gem would stand up for her friends only making the situation worse , but he also feared Dumbledore because he was sometimes irrational and impulsive when he believed something he didn't let it go until he proved it and he didn't believe that Gem could be quite the opposite of her father. "Gemini Malfoy" boomed off the walls and everyone turned to her once again , Dumbledore was calling her and she stood up following him outside the huge doors making them shut behind them with a bang "Ms.Malfoy I was instructed by your mother to pass this on to you" he placed a small black velvet box in her hand and opened the doors once again leaving Gem to walk back to her seat. "Did Ms.Perfect Gemini Malfoy just get in trouble" George leaned into her side laughing , instead of saying anything she tossed the little box in his direction making him lean back to catch it "you really are liked by everyone including Fred" George laughed until Fred punched him right in the stomach making him laugh louder while clutching his stomach but he stopped laughing once he opened the box which revealed a silver ring with a deep green stone set in the center with a small snake wrapped around the stone , George had never seen something this nice and something so expensive he was staring at it with amazement until Gem took it out of his hand she removed it from the box to examine it and once she turned it over she saw something was engraved on it "Malfoy" , Gem had come to hate her last name every time it was spoken people only cared about her father but what more could she do besides wear the ring. "So did Dumbledore actually get that for you" Fred questioned but she shook her head and all she spoke was  "my father" but when she turned to Fred she noticed that he was looking between the pendent he had gifted her and the ring she had received from her father , though she didn't quite understand why. When it seemed Fred had finished she pulled him up walking out of the hall holding his hand she lead them to the courtyard making them sit on one of the benches , as they sat in silence Gem decided to lean her head on his shoulder "you know Snape gifted me a quill that is charmed so I never need any ink for it" Fred looked at Gem starting to feel bad about the pendent he had gifted her which was actually made my his brother Bill who had made it from a simple piece of silver and carved it with a dragon fang he had worn around his neck , Fred was beginning to think that his gift was no where near as nice as the other ones she had received , Gem squeezed his hand in her "yet the best gift I have received today was from you I have never received a gift where someone actually thought about me when getting and I don't think any gift could ever top this". They sat in silence for a couple more minutes until Fred decided to speak up "you know I will actually miss you during the summer three months seems too long until I see you again" Gem didn't really know what to say as she knew she couldn't comfort him with broken promises of a letter so she did something she is learning to love she took his hand and put it in between both of her hands rubbing them and occasionally tracing circles into his palm. They stayed like that for awhile until they heard someone clear their throat behind them they turned and it was Filch , so hand in hand they began running towards the castle Fred leading them towards the dungeon , they came to a stop in front of the familiar paintings she took his hand and traced the word "night" into it. Gem had never felt such comfort before the comfort of actually knowing people care about her she didn't have to second guess if they truly were there for her or her father's status and wealth , so she knew by the end of the week she would be saying goodbye to her friends , it wasn't until now that the anxiety of losing them hit her would they still want to be her friend even if she didn't write to them maybe she could ask Snape , and she would also miss Snape he was the one person besides her cousin who she told everything to she faced no judgment from him only actually helpful advice. The rest of the week was full of all the students excitement about going home and not having any course work but Gem would rather do pages and pages of work than return home , so the Friday before she left home she showed up to Snape's office with tears in her eyes sniffling away and when he opened the door he let the girl in ushering her into her usual spot and instantly handing her a hot cup of tea , Snape wasn't accustomed to comforting people so he sat next to the poor girl and listen to her cry he allowed her to get out all of her emotions. Once she was able to get her tears in control she expressed her concern for leaving Hogwarts and why but she didn't need to explain it Snape understood perfectly why she didn't want to leave yet he had no words to tell her because there was nothing he could say to make her feel better so he simply put his arm around her shoulder letting her stay as long as she liked , and when it was time for her to go she stood up and pushed herself against him giving him a hug but Snape similar to Gem was unfamiliar with affection so he stood still both biding their goodbyes. She left his office with puffy eyes and a stuffy nose running straight into Fred's arms hugging him as tight as possible letting her tears run freely soaking up his sweater "what's wrong Gem" he questioned rocking on his heels to soothe her "I'll just miss you terribly , you won't forget about me will you Fred" she sniffled "of course not love" she looked at him wiping her tears away and letting out a small laugh when she looked down at his sweater and saw the wet spot "I'm sorry about your sweater" , "don't worry about it mum has made me loads of them" . They walked hand in hand towards the dungeons and when they arrived Fred like always pat her head as a goodnight not a goodbye until the next day.
