CHAPTER 3

~~Sophie POV. ~~

I was feeling so good that Fitz proposed me that I was about to kiss him but I know that we should rush things so I just kissed him on the forehead so he also kissed me on the forehead and agreed that we should not rush things. I was so happy that I hugged him again.

"Am interrupting again?" Tiegan cleared his throat behind us.

Fitz pulled apart and only then I realized that we were not alone. I was blushed very much.

Then suddenly I felt a pull on my head and tried to resit and took a glance at Fitz who was also rubbing his forehead.

After a few seconds I gave up allowed the strange force pull me. It bought me and Fitz closer until our foreheads were touching. Then the force disappeared. I tried to stand but it felt like my and Fitz's minds were merging together. After a minute everything went to normal but my mind felt like it had joined with Fitz's.

"Are you two okay?" asked Tiegan who was looking a bit concerned.

"Not really. It feels like our minds have combined after we kissed." Fitz said

"oh no I need to inform the council." Tiegan said nervously.

"what happened?" I asked but Tiegan had already walked out of the room telling us to stay here only.

"What do you think happened?" I asked Fitz

"I don't know" he replied.

After a few minutes the council arrived with serious faces. Even Oralie looked worried.

"Do you both know what happened?" asked councillor Emery.

"no" me and Fitz replied in unison.

After we replied all the councillors went into telepathic conversation even Tiegan.

"please tell us everything that happened." Told councillor Bronte

"it's better that I show you all." I said

"wait you mean you can show us all at once?" asked councillor Alina

"Yes, what's problem in that?"

"nothing just show us." Said councillor Emery

I started showing the memory to all the councillors and Tiegan.

After a few minutes I made a separate connection with Fitz and asked him to give me a mental boost.

While I was showing the memory, I again made a separate connection with Tiegan.

(Sophie italics, Tiegan bold)

Can you tell me what happened? Tiegan jumped when heard my transmission.

Did you transmit to the council also?

No, I made a separate connection to only talk to you.

Wait you can make more than one connection?

Yes

OK we will talk later.

With this he severed the connection.

After the memory finished the councillors went into a telepathic conversion along with Tiegan

After the few minutes councillor Emery told both me and Fitz "Well given the normal circumstances, you both would have been exiled for what you di-"

"Wait I don't think that kissing is exileable offense" I interrupted

"no it is not. But what was the result of it is an exileable offense." Said councillor Emery

"so will you tell us what happened?" I asked

"Yes we will but please listen to us first." Said councillor Emery.

"As I was saying, given the normal circumstances, you both would have been exiled for what you did. But what you did today, you were not aware of what happened so we are excusing you both." Said councillor Emery

"Now a question will arise what you both did. Well to put in simple words you both completed the ceremony of finalizing the cognate bond. Yes you both are now officially cognates." Told councillor Bronte

"you mean we did our test?" asked Fitz

"Well not really. During the cognate test first, we perform a ceremony and if the pair completes the ceremony, we take their strength test I which they have to penetrate the mind of the best keeper in the lost cities and their strength is determined by how much they were able to surpass the blocking of the keeper." Told councillor Emery

"Does this mean that we did the ceremony? If yes then how because we didn't know how to do a ceremony?" I asked

"That's the offense we were referring to. Doing the ceremony without a councillor. But in your case the ceremony was an accident. Usually in the ceremony you have to take vows regarding trust and then kiss each other usually on forehead. So now do you get what happened?" asked councillor Bronte

"yes" me and Fitz replied in unison

"So are you both willing to take the test now?" asked councillor Oralie

"well I guess I am ready but what about you Sophie?" asked Fitz

"Let's do this." I replied with determination.

"OK we will call Prentice then." Said councillor Emery

"What Prentice is the keeper?" I asked

"Of course he dodged the memory break from the once greatest cognates and gave only a little information which was not enough to find." replied councillor Bronte

After a few minutes Prentice arrived and gave us permission to enter his mind. Me and Fitz navigated through his mind like we did for Mr. Forkle.

After sometime we cleared his blocking heard the thought-

How will I show my face to others if they get past my blocking?

Both me and Fitz were confused about what he was thinking but when we told the councillors his thought and he confirmed that it was correct, all the councillors were on shock.

"what happened?" me and Fitz

"well you got past the only impenetrable mind in the lost cities." Replied councillor Emery.

"Wait don't I also have impenetrable mind?" I asked in disbelief

"No not exactly impenetrable. Mr Forkle and Fitz can get past your blocking right." Said councillor Oralie

"Oh" I said with little disappointment.

"OK now you both should go home, Fitz call your parents to Havenfield we will come there and announce your results" said councillor Alina.

Soon all the councillors left except for Bronte and Terik.

"Miss Foster we would like to ask you and Fitz something. Can you talk now?" asked councillor Bronte.

"Well I am ok but don't know about Fitz" I said

"I am also OK with it" said Fitz

I saw Tiegan leaving the room saying that he shouldn't be a part of this conversation but councillor Bronte insisted him to stay.

"So, I wanted ask you both that are you guys finally official? Or should I ask in your language that is Fitzphie or Sophitz a thing now?" asked councillor Terik

"umm I guess so. But what do you mean by finally?" I asked

"Oh come on Sophie we all that how you both act around each other. It is so obvious." Teased councillor Bronte

"Ok but we would like to keep it down for a while." I said

And with that everyone went to the leapmaster and went to my home
