Y/n's hands brushed against her drawing, pushing eraser shavings and broken pencil tips off of her desk. She smiled at the drawing, and she couldn't wait to show it to Kenma.
Just then, the bell rang, and y/n stood up and ran out of the room as fast as she possibly could.
"Lunchtime!" she thought to herself as she opened her locker. She grabbed her lunchbox and headed straight to the cafeteria. For the first time in a long time, she had something to look forward to at school: Kenma.
She sat down at her favorite table at the back of the cafeteria. Soon after, Kenma sat down next to her and smiled. She smiled back as she opened her sandwich container.
"Your mom makes the best sandwiches!" y/n looked over to Kenma as she chewed up her first bite. He smiled at her innocently.
"Oh! I forgot to show you," y/n said as Kenma turned his attention over to her in curiosity. She grabbed her sketchbook from underneath her lunch box and flipped to one of the last pages.
"Do you like it?" Y/n turned the drawing towards Kenma. His eyes widened and his lips curved into a small smile.
"Wow," he was speechless. Y/n's face turned pink as Kenma's eyes continued to roam around the drawing.
"I love it," he looked deep into her eyes and smiled. Y/n turned the drawing back to face herself. She ripped out the page and handed it to Kenma.
"Th-thank you, y/n!" Kenma couldn't believe his eyes. He held the paper up to his chest and wrapped his arms around it. It was his most prized possession now, and y/n knew it.
Kenma placed the paper gently into his lunchbox as they continued eating. They had been sitting next to each other at lunch for 7 years in a row, and this was the first time they had a conversation that lasted the entire lunch block.
They chatted and laughed about school, parents, and most importantly: Kuroo. Kenma found it hilarious when y/n made fun of Kuroo's gullible actions, and y/n found Kenma's laugh to be the funniest thing to ever exist.
The two of them spent the whole lunch break talking and laughing, both not even realizing that they had barely started eating. The bell rang quickly after, and both Kenma and y/n frowned at each other.
"Bye, Kenma!" y/n waved back to him as she left the cafeteria.
She was disappointed now since lunch was the only thing she looked forward to. She dreaded school, but she tried to think on the bright side. It was a Friday, after all.
Y/n sat at the back of the room, like usual, and tried her hardest to pay attention to the teacher.
She couldn't wait for school to be over, but every time she thought about going home, her mind wanted her to stay here. She didn't really want to interact with her mom and dad, but the school wasn't any better. She just wished that staying with Kenma forever was an option.
"Hey, y/n," she heard a voice whisper. Nobody really seemed to talk to her much anymore, so the voice made her jump a little. The soft noise came from a girl sitting next to her. Y/n didn't quite remember her name, but she recognized her face.
"Are you and Kenma dating?" she asked. Y/n's face turned blank. Why did she care. And honestly, y/n didn't know either.
"N-no, we're just friends," y/n let out a small fake smile to the girl, hoping that she would back off. Her heart was beating fast. She really wanted to go home now.
After class ended, y/n walked to her locker slowly. She packed up her backpack and started walking out of the school. Her smiles from earlier were completely wiped off of her face.
Y/n followed a large crowd of students out of the building and down the entrance staircase. She stopped at the bottom and looked down at her feet before she felt a tap on her shoulder.
"Kenma?" she looked back, seeing the pudding-haired boy standing behind her.
