Y/n slowly mixed cheese into the pot of macaroni as her mind trailed away into thought. Her mother still sat, her nose stuck in between the pages of her book. As y/n forced herself back into reality, she noticed that her mother's glare was directed straight at y/n. She was a bit confused and continuously tried to avoid eye contact with her mother.

Y/n was embarrassed, she could feel her mother's eyes dig into her soul. She had no clue why her mother continued to stare at her, but y/n felt strangely uncomfortable around her. Once the macaroni finished cooking, y/n scooped it out and plopped a spoonful into a bowl. This was her chance to walk across the room as an excuse to get out of her mother's death glare.

She sat down at the living room table, away from her mother's eye contact. As she scooped macaroni into a spoon, she heard footsteps coming from the kitchen. Around the corner, her mother appeared, holding a book in one hand and a box in the other. She sat down across from y/n, continuing her death glare.

"Happy birthday, y/n," she smiled a bit as she handed the dusted brown box to y/n. It was the same motion that Kenma had made earlier today. Y/n shifted her gaze down towards the box as she moved her hand away from the spoon to grab it.

She placed the box on the table in front of her as she looked back up to her mother. Her fingers wrapped around the top of the box, lifting the small lid. Inside the box laid a sticky-note sized piece of paper. She flipped it over to reveal her mother's curled handwriting.

"Happy birthday ♥"

Y/n smiled at the little note. Below the note was a small chain that y/n's eyes automatically brought attention to. The chain reminded her of her necklace, but instead of a lock, there was a tiny silver heart attached to the bracelet. It was precious, and it made y/n's day lighten up.

"Th-thank you, mom!" Y/n smiled as she looked up at her mother. She stood up and walked over to where her mom sat. She wrapped her arms around her and pulled her into a passionate hug. They pulled back as y/n sat back down. Her mother stood up and walked back to the kitchen, continuing her daily tasks.

Y/n wrapped the bracelet around her wrist and clipped it together. It was an adorable bracelet that she planned to wear every day to school.

Once she finished her dinner, she walked over to the kitchen sink and started washing her bowl. She smiled as she saw her bracelet dangle.

Quickly afterward, y/n scurried upstairs and into her bedroom. She squeaked the door closed and sat down at her desk to get started on her homework. She placed her phone down at her desk face up. It turned on automatically, revealing a notification. Y/n's eyes lit up, as she didn't receive too many notifications nowadays. She picked up her phone and opened up to find a message.

1 new message from Kuroo Tetsurou:
Hey, y/n. Kenma told me that it was your birthday so I just wanted to wish you a good one!

Y/n looked up at the wall above her desk and smiled. So many people had remembered her birthday, even her two childhood friends remembered. Her heart warmed up as thoughts about her friends continued to fill her brain.

From y/n to Kuroo:
Thank you Kuroo!

A smile remained glued on her face as she forced herself to become productive. She placed her phone face down on her desk as she picked up a pencil. She started quickly on her math homework, her pencil tracing down lines as her mind blanked.
