18. The One With The First Night

"What?"

The omega couldn't hide his confusion. This sounded more like a dream. Those kinds of daydreams he has had since he had first found out about the connection to Taehyung.
It's not like he ever thought they would become reality, but merely imagining it was comforting.

Frankly the words now spoken in reality didn't feel quite like comfort. It was more the confusion piling up.

"And why shouldn't I? You've been nothing but a cold prick to me and truth be told I don't want to spend my life with someone who can't make up his mind. Even if you are my mate."

Taehyung looked so helpless like he was fighting in his mind for whatever reasons. For once he didn't hide his emotions.

"Because....."

"That's not a very valid reason, you know?"
The omega grew a little impatient. He needed an explanation, because he couldn't trust him so easily. His mind wouldn't and so wouldn't his heart.

Taehyung sighed and shook his head.
"Forget it."
That being said he turned around heading towards his bed.
Intentionally Jungkook opened his mouth to hold him back somehow, but it was too late, the door had already been closed leaving him alone.

It kept bugging him, but even more he was frustrated once again, that he didn't get a clear answer. Out of his mind he chose the couch, which only looking at promised him back pains in the morning. Whatever, he promised Jimin one night and by tomorrow he would sleep in a comfortable bed again.

It took him hours until his thoughts finally died down and he was able to fall into a rather light sleep.

Eraly in the morning he woke up to the door opening, which revealed a sleepy Taehyung roaming through the living room. Judging by the dark circles under his eyes he probably even slept less than Jungkook.

Said omega sat up, suddenly feeling uncomfortable and vulnerable. No one could deny the weird tension between them, which only got worse, when their eyes met.
For a moment Jungkook couldn't tell what he saw in his eyes, since it was something new he had never seen in the alpha's eyes until it hit him.

Taehyung eyed him with undeniable guilt.
He stood there seemingly unsure wether he should say something or not, but then he gave up with a deep sigh.

"Sorry about yesterday.... I know I've been quite rude to you lately"

"Quite....? Lately....?"

"Okay okay, I get it. What I'm trying to say is, I don't know what to do. Everything draws me to you. Your scent, the way you smile and show your bunny teeth, simply your whole presence and I can't do anything against it. I don't want to do anything against it. I tried to hate you so much, but I couldn't stop myself liking you. But there's a part of me.... I know it's wrong. I know my parents wouldn't like me mating with an omega."

To say Jungkook was confused was an understatement. He didn't expect something like that to come so suddenly.

"Then don't give a fuck about them. We can work it out... Somehow. If that's really the resaon why you hurt me that much, then-"

"No, you don't understand!", he was interrupted by a troubled Taehyung.
"I can't just 'give a fuck about them'. I never tried to disobey them when it came to my future mate. That's all they care about, so that I can ensure the true alpha bloodline. I'm not independent to them, I can't do this."

Picturing Taehyung's parents Jungkook knew what he meant. They seemed like those kinds of parents who would even go as far and disown their son. At least when he would mate with an omega, a lowlife, who would dishonor the family.

"If I don't go for an alpha as mate they'll set me up with someone, believe me, somehow they'll get what they want."

He sat down on the couch, face covered with his hands. He looked miserable just like Jungkook felt. There he was, feelings uncovered, but so close their happiness seemed to be so big were the problems they had to face for it.

Jungkook crouched down and reached out for Taehyung's hands.

"But you want to be with me, right?"
His voice was more like a whisper.

Taehyung looked up into his eyes not wasting a second before he nodded.
Not only his wolf seeked their connection, but Taehyung himself missed the younger's presence in his life. Only this time more romantically than in a platonic way.

His nod was enough for the omega to lean forward a bit and lay his lips on the other ones, connecting them in a sweet and innocent kiss. The feeling spread through their bodies like a firework and their inner wolves howled. Actually Jungkook didn't know where his sudden confidence came from and why he chose to kiss Taehyung, but it felt right, like something that was meant to happen right in this moment.

The moment lasted only for a few seconds, before Jungkook retreated and gave him a shy smile.

"I know the situation isn't easy, but can we at least try? Follow your heart, not the words of your parents, because at the end you're the one who has to live with the decision. I know it doesn't seem so, but all of this is only up to you."

Now that Jungkook's confidence was gone again he questioned his spontaneous decision and gave Taehyung a doubtful look. To his relief he didn't seem to have crossed any lines, necause the boy before him had eased a bit and returned the smile.

"I'd like nothing more but a future with my destined mate. I can't promise anything, but at least I want to try to make this real. I want this to be real so badly."

The weird tension had left. It didn't seem like reality for neither of them, but for once both of them were happy not regretting a single thing.

Ngl I forgot half of the stuff I've written in the chapters before, so sorry if some things don't add up.

Also, lately I've been re-reading my favorite yoonmin fanfiction called 'My true alpha' and I realized that some points regarding the fictional world and the biological rules (heat, rangs etc) are kinda similar.
I apologize a lot for that and as soon as I finished this book I'll look over it again.

I want this to be as original as possible
