i don't own naruto

I woke up to the little sounds Naruto is making in his deep sleep. Every once in a while, he would curl up, then spread his feet out. He was seriously drained. I turned around to the smell of smoke. It was Asuma Sarutobi.

"I heard what happened. Poor kid." Asuma said, walking up to me. "Asuma, i'm sorry, i couldn't protect him." I said, looking back at The sleeping Blondie. "Don't apologize. I'm thankful for you. If he was alone and kept walking through town all day and night, maybe nobody would've noticed he was missing until it was too late." Asuma said while walking up to the tiny blonde child and stomping out his cigarette. "Tsunade had to heal Naruto, and it was awful. Naruto was terrified and had no clue who I was. It's like he forgot about the bond we already had from yesterday." Asuma looked up at the Ceiling. "That's happened to me too. I was probably the first person to look out for him under the hokage orders. I liked the little guy. He was a goofball. I got him out of some sticky situations too. But one night.." Asuma turned to the blonde, with a emotionless frown. "He had been attacked. He was around 3. Someone from the Inuzuka clan, I think. It was really bad. Now he's terrified of new people, and me to. He said to my once he got fixed up, 'Why..why did you not come. You left me..you left.'". Suddenly, Tsunade came in. "Asuma, nice to see you. Kakashi, he can leave once he wakes up. The poison was successfully ejected, along with the stitching process. BUT, be careful with him, the scars might easily tear back out, UNDEERSTAND?" "Yes, thank you Tsunade." As soon as she leaves I look back at Asuma, but he's nowhere to be found. "Hicc- hwaa..hicc hicc." I hear and I turn to see The little blonde boy, Hiding behind the covers of the hospital bed. His big blue eyes stare at me, filled with tears. He looked so tiny, so fragile. I sit next to him on the bed, but he scoots over and almost falls off. "It's me, Naruto. Naruto." I need to bond with him again, but I can't in a hospital. I'm sure being in a new place is making him scared, not to mention the beeping of the machines probably doesn't help either. Even though he's fussing and crying, trying to get away, I pick him up and poof him to my apartment. He jumps out of my grasp and backs away, crying. "Nuh uh, not again, not again." I kneel down, making him taller than me by a tiny bit. I couldn't take it anymore. Kakashi Hatake, a cold blooded person, with no emotion, is being all soft to a child. It hurt looking at the boys pained face.

I hugged the little boy.

He was startled, and tense. But he sunk into it and began crying, muttering long sentences after another. "You w-weft me awone. Not again, pwease please please.." I lowered my mask. I wanted him to see my face. My expression. Me. "I'm so sorry Naruto. I won't leave you in any danger like that again." He sunk back into the hug. He cried into my chest, and I kept hugging him back, speaking soothingly to him. "Your okay now. Wolfy is here. Wolf will protect you." Eventually, he was asleep, grasping onto my shirt. He wanted to know if i left him. I slowly picked myself up, with him cradled in my arms. Tears stained his checks, but it looked as if he was sleeping peacefully. I went into my bedroom and put him on a pillow on the floor. I grabbed a blanket from my closet and covered him in it. I changed the sheets of the bed, removing the bloody and shard filled covers and blankets, replacing it with fresh clean ones. I scooped up the little boy and placed him next to me on the bed. He leeched onto me, nuzzling himself into my side. I hugged him and watched him, making sure nobody dared to hurt him again. They'd have to deal with me, how unlucky for them. I help onto him tight, and he help into me tight. We weren't letting go.
