(My artwork!! It's been a while, huh?)
Hawks still found himself struggling to have faith in the news he had been presented with just a few days ago. Sitting on the rooftop, Touya Todoroki was sitting directly beside him. Not only alive and breathing, but a full-fledged villain and the son of the no. 1 hero.
Two things Keigo never would have imagined.
Keigo had always thought Touya Todoroki had the one person he knew better than anyone, but now he was suddenly doubting that theory.
A portion of him felt infuriated by that; he had poured out his heart to the redhaired boy when they reunited as teenagers, and yet so much had been hidden away from him.
On the other hand, he knew he should have connected the dots all those years ago. He had just so intently tried to erase Touya from his mind that each hint had slipped right under his nose. Seeing Shoto with Endeavour... right, it all did make sense, after all, he was just the one being oblivious. In a consistent state of denial.
When Touya had been pronounced dead, Keigos world had been absolutely annihilated. He had grieved for years, and for what? Touya was not even dead. No, he was right in front of him, alive and breathing.
"How're you feeling?" for the first time since Hawks arrival, he wasn't the one to break a lingering silence.
Dabi looked at him questionably, eyes glinting and casting light over his otherwise bleak face.
Keigo cleared his throat, chuckling mildly as he distanced himself from his tumbling thoughts. "Uh.. nostalgic, I guess"
"Oh?" It was not the response Dabi had expected, for sure.
"Yeah, just thinking about the past and stuff.."
Dabi seemed content with ending the conversation there, but Hawks was only just beginning. He looked down, honey-brown irises gazing briefly at the slight space between them, their hands only mere centimetres apart.
He looked away and hesitantly inched closer to allow their pinkies to bump together. It caused a strange electricity to jolt his body, something he had not felt in years.
Keigos mouth hung slightly open and he looked at their hands carefully. He inspected the harm that had been infiltrated on the other man's arms; dark, unruly scars that covered up his dermis. When they were younger, tendencies of burns had been present, but this had clearly exacerbated.
He looked so different, yet so similar. Touya had always had a face fit for piercings, Keigo would have to give him that.
"Do you regret it? Making this.. choice" Keigo spoke warily, swallowing back a lump in his throat and clearing it afterwards.
"It's not a choice, really.." the villain answered in a hushed tone, deliberately pushing his fingers against the ones on the other man's hand. "At least I never felt like I had a choice"
Keigo nodded, confidently making the next move and sliding his hand on top of the pale version that belonged to his first ever best friend. He slipped his fingers in between Dabi's, forming a strange lattice as their hands clasped together.
"I'm sorry that it had to end up like this.. I just, I wish you told me" He spoke, unable to restrain the slight antagonism that seeped into his words nearing the end.
"I know" the now semi-red haired man retorted, finally looking up to gaze over Keigos face.
The hero turned to meet his look, and there they lingered; eyes melting together in swirls of golden and turquoise as the past briefly elapsed through their eyes.
