Dangerous Connotations

I live in a world of connotations
A world where "girl" means "weak"
And "boy" is an "excuse"
Where "feminist" strikes up disgust but "meninist" strikes up a light hearted laugh
A world where "white male" means "power" as long as it follows the label "hetero-"
But the words "black" and "woman" either together or apart, is a symbol of oppression
A world where "menstruation" is a word more cringeworthy than "rape"
Where "no" means "yes" and "stop" means "I want you"
But I don't want this
This world of connotations
Where I and we are labeled and misunderstood
Slapped in the face with false assumptions
