Hello, my dear readers. This chapter came to me after taking a bit of time to think and a prayer or two. Suffice to say, I am more than pleased with the result. I thank all of you who continue to read, and I heartily welcome all newcomers. I also thank God for this result as it's hard to do this kind of work on my own, if not impossible, at times.

Considering FF's fluctuations, this chapter is being posted first to Wattpad and then to FF's servers. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend that you enjoy the chapter, leave a review, and I will see you next chapter.

Pagliacci-11

Nicolette knocked at Sylvia's door, and soon her voice was heard, "Yes?"

Nicolette replied, "High Commander, are you in?"

"Indeed, I am Talia; come in."

"You do love to use that name for me, huh?" Nicolette asked as she entered, and when she fixed her eyes on the figure before her after looking up from a paper in her hand, she stood transfixed.

Sylvia, not hearing a word, turned in her chair to face Nicolette. She smiled somewhat, "You alright?"

Nicolette's mouth slowly dropped opened as she dropped her papers, "Y-you—" she stammered, struggling to find words.

Sylvia looked at Nicolette, and seeing her countenance, Sylvia got up and stood still before her, "I'm sorry. You've never seen me outside my shell before; I must shock you."

Nicolette gently swallowed, "In the name of all that is holy—does that hurt?"

Sylvia shook her head, "No, not anymore. When I need cleaning, it hurts like a bitch. But, as a general thing, it's nothing major."

Nicolette was still stunned, barely able to register what was before her. Sylvia seeing this, replied gently, "You have a report for me?"

Nicolette still was somewhat dazed until Sylvia immediately came forward with a speed that shocked her. Seizing Nicolette by her collar, she said harshly, "Have a good look. Get it over with, and we will continue. Enough?!"

Nicolette nodded quickly, and Sylvia released her and withdrew, asking, "Your report, what is it?"

"Field-Marshall Verrig has verified your requested mission transfer of parameters. North-Gate's conquest directive has been successfully transferred into the expeditionary reconnaissance realm for the Ministry of Talganitsa. The measure was passed with eight in approval, two in dissent, two abstaining due to absence on the front at exactly 11:34 a.m. Bureau Time. Your new parameters are as follows in this file, Ma'am." She stepped forward three steps, handed Sylvia the dossier, and stepped three paces back.

Sylvia nodded, "Thank you." She looked at the dossier page by page, and once done, she said, "Excellent. Send these new directives to all active agents in the field and call a meeting a Brown Bess for all members of The Eye. Except for Terrance, he is on duty, and we can't afford to compromise his position. Make a copy of this for me for my personal files. That is all." She handed the dossier to Nicolette, who took it promptly.

Sylvia looked at the girl and observed a gently shaking knee and said calmly, "You needn't be frightened of me."

Nicolette nodded, "Of course. I'm sorry, High Commander."

Nicolette turned to leave, but Sylvia said, "Oh and Niki, just one more thing."

Nicolette turned around and was greeted by a flash of light. Nicolette began to gently convulse as Sylvia caught her, easing her gently onto her nearby couch, "Sorry, my dear," she thought, "this has to be done. It's a far sight better than shooting you."
