AN: Hello, readers. This chapter came after a prayer and a solid couple of days of work. I'm delighted how it turned out, and I hope you all have a wonderful time reading it. I thank all of you who have newly subscribed and followed the story, and I welcome you all, especially my new surge in readers from France. Thank you all for your readership and your reviews. I will see you next chapter.
Pagliacci-11.
Amelia got up, looking around her in bewilderment. The shards of glass were everywhere, and as she looked around, Amelia sighed relief. Jacqueline's bed had sheltered her from much of the blast as there were shards thrown with such force, they had deeply punctured the memory foam mattress. Amelia went over to Aelita, who had covered her body with an admittedly thick blanket.
"Aelita," she spoke quietly, "Are you alright?"
Aelita removed the pillow from over her head, and she looked at her and nodded, slowly getting up.
There had been screaming throughout the girl's dorm now; it had relaxed into a state of understandable bewilderment.
Aelita looked at Amelia, "This," she said, gesturing around them, "This is why Sylvia cannot be trusted. Her temper flies like the condor, graceful from a distance but up close, watch out!"
Amelia looked dumbstruck, "Y-you're telling me that this Sylvia chick," she looked around the room, "did all this?"
"Mm-hmm. Do you still genuinely believe she can be reasoned with? This is her tantrum when you tell her to go take a hike; do you think she'll be reasoned with?"
Amelia looked stunned and said, "Valid point, but—"
"There is no but Amelia." Aelita replied as she looked at her roommate, "she cannot and will not be reasoned with. She believes herself always right, hardly ever in the wrong, and even then, at a glance."
Amelia looked around and then at Aelita and sat down, "Here's my issue, though; I don't think you're entirely honest with me. Sure, you tell me that this is her in a hissy fit based on your word alone. Okay, my question for you is this: how did you provoke her?"
Aelita grimaced, and Amelia said, "See? Right there. You don't like that, do you? So you did do something—"
Suddenly, a flash of light filled the room, and Aelita looked around; she was just outside the dorm room, having returned from Yolanda.
"Huh?" she said to herself, "Sylvia did you—"
"Save you from a meltdown that would have landed you in a whole heap of trouble? Absolutely. I get you don't like me, but you're irritating me. Regardless, hold your tongue for a while because I've had it up to here," the ceiling light above her crackled, "with your bad mood. In the future, think about how you scream at me, how you mock me. I have been nothing but kind to you, sister. One more baneful overture, and you'll see just how cruel I can be. Do you understand?!"
Aelita winced, and she replied for the first time in fear, a feeling she only had ever felt once before as a young girl, "Yes, ma'am."
"Thank you. Oh, word of advice, be careful around Jeremy. Because of your little breakdown, I had to roll back a lot of his progress on his little pet project, and he's not at all pleased about that. Kinda' the downside of being exempt from your rollbacks, huh?"
Aelita asked, "How much did you roll him back?"
"Oh, six hours. It wouldn't have happened had you not had your issues, but it's what it is. Hopefully, we learn from our mistakes and move on, eh?"
