Kuroo had been looking for Kenma. It was already eight in the evening but the blonde wasn't home yet. Worried, he dialed Kenma's number. It had been hours and yet there was no response. He muttered a curse.
He knew that Kenma had no close friends and it was weird for him to go home late.
Kuroo tried calling Yamamoto, Fukunaga, Yaku, and even Lev but to no avail, no one had seen him around.
He was getting impatient and angry for no reason. Lately, he became moody especially to Kenma.
He entered Kenma's room and slammed the door behind him.
--
Kenma was so so fucked up. His phone battery was dead and the bus to his house was annoyingly late.
"Okay as much as I want to use your phone, I know I can't," Kenma ranted to the other setter.
Akaashi shot him a worried look.
"Why can't you just tell Kuroo-san that you saw him with that girl? You are obviously hurting yourself this way."
Kenma shifted his gaze to his hands. "It's not like I'm not hurting anyway."
Akaashi was getting impatient too. "You know what, I'm gonna call him."
"No!"
The blonde grabbed Akaashi's phone away from him.
"Just don't. I'll tell him. I promise... I just want to fix us, if possible."
"A cheater will always be a cheater."
"Kuro isn't like that, Akaashi!" Kenma defended.
Akaashi's face softened. "You are really hopeless."
Kenma fell silent.
After what it seemed like hundreds of hours, the bus stopped in front of them.
Kenma stood up, glanced at Akaashi, and handed back his phone. "I'll get going. Thank you for today."
Akaashi accepted it, eyes flicking back to the blonde. "Are you sure you'd be fine by yourself?"
Akaashi couldn't help but to worry. To him, Kenma looked like a child that needed care and guidance.
The blonde rolled his eyes. "It's a 30 minute bus ride."
Akaashi sighed in defeat. "Alright, you take care of yourself, Kozume."
Kenma nodded then headed off.
The other setter gave him a small wave and turned to go when the bus was out of his sight.
--
The house had its lights on when Kenma arrived. He tightened his grip to the strap of his bag before he set foot inside.
He knew he had a lot of explaining to do, knowing that Kuroo would get mad at times like these.
He sighed when he saw that his boyfriend wasn't at the living room, that meant Kuroo was in his room.
The blonde headed upstairs and then to his room.
When he opened the door, Kuroo was on his bed, arms crossed. His gaze told Kenma to explain.
"I- I was with a friend."
He didn't know why he was so nervous.
Maybe because he didn't want Kuroo to know he was with Akaashi.
Because if his boyfriend knew, then he would know that Kenma was aware of his thing with Alisa.
Kenma didn't want that.
He didn't want to end things. Even if it hurt him.
"Since when did you got yourself a friend?"
Kenma's gaze shot up, meeting the older's.
"Am I not allowed to make friends now?"
Kuroo let out a sarcastic chuckle. "Friends shouldn't influence each other to go home late."
"Kuro, I'm not a kid anymore."
"Besides, my phone was dead," Kenma added.
"You should've borrowed from your 'friend'."
Kenma looked away, walking towards the bedside table to put his things.
"His phone is dead too," he muttered.
I'm sorry, Kuro. I have to lie.
"Great! Great pair."
Kenma sighed. "Kuro, let's not fight over this. I'm sorry, okay? We went to the next city to buy some stuffs for him and I didn't notice the time. I'm sorry I did not send you a message."
"Unless you're cheating on me."
Kenma froze.
Cheating? Me?
He slowly faced his boyfriend.
"K-kuro? Why would you think that?" His voice trembled in disbelief.
Kuroo averted his gaze.
"You became busy with that friend every afternoon," Kuroo mumbled.
"That doesn't mean I'm cheating on you!"
Kuroo fell silent.
"You really think I'm cheating on you?"
Kuroo sighed then faced the blonde.
"No, I'm sorry. My emotions got me," he apologized, guilt evident on his face.
Kenma just stared at him.
He just couldn't believe Kuroo.
Is he afraid I might do the same to him?
Bullshit.
But he still nodded, mumbled an "It's okay", and acted normal as if he wasn't hurt by every word Kuroo had spitted.
Kuroo wrapped his arms around Kenma's tiny body.
"I'm sorry, babe. I just got carried away."
Kenma was just silent, listening to the older guy's so-called apology.
Kuroo broke the hug and cupped his cheeks.
"Kitten, I'm really sorry. Please forgive me, hm?"
Kenma nodded, heart pounding too fast. All his negative thoughts were again at the back of his head, just because of a simple gesture.
He wanted to push Kuroo away and slap him, tell him that he's a cheater, and they should break up.
But Kenma was just too soft. Too forgiving to even confront his boyfriend. Too in love to let go of him.
Too blinded by love.
He kept on falling for the same trap over and over again.
He kept on falling to Kuroo's amber eyes and his sweet lies.
"I love you."
It was just one sentence and Kenma was once again controlled by this thing called love.
Kenma felt Kuroo's lips on his. His tongue dancing inside Kenma's mouth, erasing all the blonde's rational thoughts.
Kenma tightened his grip on to his boyfriend's black messy locks. In exchange, Kuroo pulled him closer that there bodies were now grinding with each other.
Kenma gasped at the contact and Kuroo delved deeper into his mouth.
Kuroo has taken over him. Completely.
