The master of the troupe had fallen into a depressed slump once again, how could he be blamed? He missed his son. Divine, having had enough of Grimm and his "early morning sobbings", as she liked to referred to them, hatched a plan. Well, it wasn't really a plan, she simply invited him out for dinner at an expensive restaurant.
"Come now Grimm, this evening will help getting your head together again. I know you miss Grimmchild, all of us do, but you can't simply sit around and do nothing all the time." Reasoned the red-wearing woman. Grimm, albeit reluctantly, accepted her proposal and got dressed for the occasion. He stepped out of his room wearing a fine, red suit and white dress shirt. The Troupe Master even decided to wear his cufflinks, which he rarely did. His red tie ended just above his belt, which was the proper way to wear it. (Like no joke here, that's acutally how far a tie is supposed to go down)
Divine, being as extra as she is, went for an enchanting scarlet dress, that showed off all her curves. Truly a worthy piece of clothing for the femme fatale of the group. Yes, she knew how to use her charm as a weapon and wielded it quite efficently on top of that. Either way she and Grimm left, leaving Novice, Master and Nightmare to themselves. Brumm had also decided to go out this evening. He planned to visit a play and had informed his master of his plans.
The room remained silent, until Novice thought Grimm and Divine were out of earshot.
"Guys, how about we go and break into the mausoleum at the graveyard?" the little, easily excited ball of giggles that was Novice asked. His suggestion was met with silence. Both Master and Nightmare were looking at him with expressions that said 'Why?'. Novice looked down and began to sob. Of course it was all just an act, but Novice's brothers didn't need to know that. Not wanting to see their little brother in tears, they immediately nodded. Said youngest brother looked up with a sly smile and shouted "Then what're you waiting for?! LET'S GO!"
------Graveyard------The graveyard was covered in fog. But it wasn't fog, so thick one could barely see through it. No, it was almost like a translucent veil and gave this last resting place a mysterious aura. The Grimmkin siblings were looking around. Between the rows of graves, the dangleing branches of willow trees and occasional candle flickering, they could make out a few people. They were all dressed in dark colors, colors of mourning and sadness. They may hav stood out a little in their outfits. Of course, they didn't leave the hideout in their capes and masks, they all put on T-shirts, each in a different shade of red and black jeans. For footwear Novice had decided on simple sneakers, Master never would leave the house without his boots and Nightmare wore sandals. Nightmare wore sandals with black socks just to tick off his brothers. Master also wore a leather jacket, which he loved to death.
Yes, the trio certainly stood out. But, just as they reached their destination, the old mausoleum, built from black marble, an even stranger person fell into their line of sight. It was an old woman, presumably a widow. She was silently weeping in front of a grave which, most likely, belonged to her partner. What made the widow seem so weird however, was her clothing. Instead of dark colors, she seemed to favor white. She wore a long white skirt, a white blouse and white pumps. Even her hat was white. Nightmare could've sworn that she snook a glance at them. In that single glance her eyes seemed to shine like topaz, before her line of sight was brought back to the grave in front of her. The problem was, that this woman was just a little distance away from the exact mausoleum the Grimmkin wished to break into. They just hoped she was deaf, at least partially.
So the siblings arrived at the building. The black marble was giving off a chilling aura. Almost foreboding. The front had a heavy, black iron door to enter it. It was filled with intricate designs worked into it. Upon closer inspection, the siblings noticed a heavy bug theme was present. The upper hald of the door was fill with all sorts of tiny, six-legged critters. Each seemed to gaze upon a sun or light of some sort, in the topmost area. The lower half of the door was even stranger than the upper. At the bottom there were circles with cracks in them, from some of these weird, ghostly figures seemed to emerege. Like the bugs on the upper half, the figures had their gaze fixated on something. In this case, the either looked directly to the left or the right. There it seemed like black flames where situated. But what confused all three Grimmkin, was that on the left as well as on the right, three ovals were carved into the bottom half of the door. It looked eerily like eyes.
After they had gawked for long enough, they prepared to use their flames to melt the door open. But, to their shock, the door was completely unlocked. It revealed a narrow, spiral staircase, covered in spiderwebs and dust. With the utmost care they descended. Deeper and deeper until they reached the foot of the stairs. They arrived in a quadratic room. The left, right and front wall each seemed to depict some kind of entity. To the left, carved into black marble, was a creature with six eyes, a body that appeared to be made of fog or fire and long arms with clawed hands. To the right, carved into white marble, was some kind of "Moth", as Novice had put it. It wore a crown and was depicted with a shine.
And there, in the front where black and white marble met, was a cloaked person. Carved into the marble was a long cloak and a helmet or skull or whatever it was supposed to be. No features could be seen. Only the long spikes that rose from the helmet the figure wore. And in the middle of the room was a coffin. On top of the coffin, sat a golden goblet.
"Don't you think that this is strange?" asked Nightmare. Novice tilted his head. He was confused and asked "What do you mean?" before getting hit in the head by Master. "He obviously means that goblet there. It's way too clean, dumbass!" was the middle brother's reply. Just there a figurative lightbulb appeared over Novice's head and he understood. He moved closer towards it, inspecting it. On it, he saw engravings. Engravings that reminded him of....himself? Yes, the closer he looked, the more obvious it became. He could see himself, his brothers, even Grimm and Grimmchild. "Just how long has the Grimm Troupe existed?!" That thought raced through Novice's mind. Despite the warnings of his brothers, he pocketed the goblet. He turned towards the stairs and, alongside his brothers, emerged from the depths of the earth. They silently closed the heavy door behind them with a silent creak and left the graveyard.
Unbeknownst to them, the widow in white was fuming on the insde.
------Grimm Troupe's Hideout------
It was around elven in the evening when Grimm and Divine returned. The Grimmkin siblings had stayed awake and observed the goblet closer. It depicted the entire ritual of the scarlet flame. Whoever was buried in the mausoleum, they knew about the Grimm Troupe. But they seemed to have taken that knowledge to their grave.
"Yo Grimm, you might wanna check this out. I and my brothers went to the graveyard today and found this in someones grave." Master exclaimed while tossing the goblet to Grimm, who gracefully caught it. He eyed it suspiciously, but thanked his 'minion', before retiring to his room. Divine did the same and so the giggling Grimmkin were left behind.
Chapter End
Phew, that took longer than expected. I'm sorry for all those that waited way too long for the next update. Well, you know the rest: If you find any errors, plotholes, severe grammatical/spelling mistakes, let me know in the comments and I will fix them.
