Aurora knew why her mom hated her, but she didn't think the reason was valid. Hating someone for something they cant control isn't reasonable. Aurora laid on her bed thinking about that. She shifted in her silky blankets. She sat up and fingered the wristbands that were over her venom glands. These ones were silver with delicate engravings of flowers in them, and in the center of each flower was a shimmering opal that matched her scales.
She heard wingbeats as the firescales of the kingdom swooped through the hallways lighting up the castle. That meant everyone would be waking up soon, so she better get ready. She stepped off of the bed and onto the smooth marble floor of her room. Her room was far from the grandest in the castle but was impressive compared to normal dragon rooms. It was circular and two stories high, with a silver staircase ascending to the second floor. The second floor had a large hole in the middle of it so it was more of balcony. There were huge windows along the walls that had silken curtains the color of the moon covering them and were lined with gold witch went perfectly with the quartz walls. Most impressive was the circular fish tank in the middle of the room that went up to the ceiling. Her bed was on the second floor.
She strode over to the carving of a tree where she kept her jewelry. She snatched up a gold neckband studded with rubies and snapped it on with a crack that sounded like shattering ice. She also put on a bunch of earrings to. Talonsteps echoed through the hallways and a bright green dragon appeared in the doorway. They were clearly a messenger. Aurora flew down to the messenger.
"Its time for breakfast, head to the dining room," the four winged dragon said calmly.
"Okay fine," aurora muttered. Going to the dining room means seeing mom, ugh.
Aurora strode down the hallways to the dining room. Some guards that were standing near the mahogany door pushed it open to let her in. Her family was there already, as she sat down around the table, her mom and sister avoided her gaze, that was normal. They hated her because of the hole her venom had burned through her sisters wings when they had just hatched. Her dad didn't hate her but was so busy that he barely talked to her. Pipevine was the only one who hung out with her in her family.
"Hey A," Pipevine chirped, he grabbed a banana off of the table and began peeling it, "wanna go visit Nightwave later?"
"Sure, but do they mi-" She felt a liquid beginning to trickle out of her wrists. She jumped up and ran to the quartz wall that had silver carvings through it. She grabbed one of the carvings and opened a small hidden chute. That was a venom chute, after her hatching Ophelia had them installed after her hatching so that the maids didn't have to clean up puddles of venom every week, since her venom uncontrollably bursts from her wrists once a week.
She slid off her wristbands and her venom began pouring out of her wrists. The chutes led down to a cauldron in the castle dungeons. It want anything new though.
Once the venom stopped she put on her wristbands and went back to the table, she ate some deer and oranges.
"Meet you at Nightwaves Vine!"
"See you over there!" Pipevine said.
She flew out of a balcony and over the bustling town towards Nightwaves house.
Seems like today won't be so bad.
Foreshadowing hahahaha
