————————————————————————A cross, the red cross outlined by white metallic gray, was the same cross carried in the holy war, the Templar cross, attached to the chest of a young Audwin who, with clasped hands, looks at the view that the train window provides him. We were in Portugal, August 1841, hot summer in the country.
At the end of the journey, young Audwin had one hand, fingers resting on his lips, brought to his face. His body gives in to the movement of the train when it stops, the German's colleagues get up.
"Audwin, Komm!" (Audwin, come!) Audwin gets up and leaves with his colleagues. The five young men meet a tall man with gray hair and a thick mustache. He was Portuguese and struggled to speak German.
"Willkommen. Er wartet auf dich." (Welcome. He waits for you.) The man was sweating. He turns and indicates the two coaches that the butlers open. The five enter, two with the man and three in another coach.
Coaches walk until they reach a building with the Templar insignia, they leave and walk into the building. They go through the entrance by going up the stairs presented to them, they go up, on the second floor they go up again, they walk down the corridor until they reach an office, they enter. Inside the office is a man with a white mustache, he was big and his hair was also gray that covered his entire head and was shaved from the sides, he was sitting in the secretary's high chair, hands crossed, his deep blue eyes exuded maturity . Beside him was a young man, brown hair and eyes of the same color, he was not sitting next to the man, as soon as he saw the five young men come in, he tightens his coat and stands up straight. The gray-haired man extends a hand.
"Setz dich bitte." (Sit down, please.) Five chairs in front of them. The five sit down. "Dies ist Antonio Bernardo da Costa Pina Cabral, Richter am Azoren-Beziehungsgericht. Er hat dir eine Eintrittskarte für den Archipel gegeben." (This is Antonio Bernardo da Costa Pina Cabral, judge of the Azorean relationship court. He gave you a ticket to the archipelago.)
"Ich hoffe, Sie haben eine gute Zeit in Portugal. Die Azoren sind sehr schön." (I hope you have a good time in Portugal. The Azores are very beautiful.)
The five wait one day to embark, leave for the Azores around nine, together with a group of seven Portuguese expeditionaries, also Templars. They arrive two days after leaving, the island was resplendent with the rain falling. The five, plus the seven expeditionaries, get out of the boat and flee under something looking for shelter. When the rain calms down, a man approaches the group.
"Folge mir." (Follow me.) The twelve follow the man, arrive at a large house, he opens the door and everyone enters. The man speaks to the Portuguese informing them of his rooms, then he turns to the five, walks and they follow him, reaching a room, the man indicates to them. "Das ist dein zimmer." (This is your room.) He opens the door and shows them to the room. "Gute nacht." (Good night.) Say goodbye and leave.
There is night, in the room, Audwin, awake, looks at the ceiling thinking. He couldn't sleep.
"Audwin, geh schlafen." (Audwin, go to sleep.) Kaspar says, startling the young Audwin.
"Du bist auch wach, Kaspar." (You are awake too, Kaspar.) Audwin replies.
"Ja, weil du nicht schläfst." (Yes, because you are not sleeping.)
"Gut, du gewinnst." (Fine, you win.)
"Über was denkst du nach?" (What are you thinking about?)
"Über den Apfel. Werden wir es wirklich finden?" (About the apple. Are we really going to find it?)
