POV: Buddy Lewek
I followed Rebecca into the elevator. She pressed a button, then looked at me. "How much do you know about the studio?"
"Not much," I admitted.
She nodded. "Okay then. Interested in a brief history lesson?"
I thought about it, then shrugged. "Sure."
"Very well. SillyVison Inc. started as Joey Drew Studios. It was started up by Joey Drew, and Halette, though at the time she still went by Hailey. Things went well for three years. However, then Hailey discovered Joey had broken a promise he gave her and stole credit for all her work. Which caused her to quit the studio."
"What kind of work did he steal credit for?"
"Well, creating Bendy, Boris, the Butcher Gang, and most importantly, Alice Angel herself."
I frowned. "I get it that Alice is the most popular character, but is she special to Halette?"
Rebecca looked surprised but nodded. "Very good guess Buddy. To answer your question, yes she is. Alice is very special to Hales."
I had a feeling I wasn't going to get anything further, so I nodded. "Okay. So what happened next?"
"Seven years passed. The studio was never the same without Hales. On the studio's tenth anniversary, Joey sent her a letter asking her to return. She did and came back to New York. That's where I come in."
"I take it something happened?" I guessed.
She chuckled. "Another good guess Buddy. You're right. That day I was on my way back to the apartment I had at the time. Then, I saw a horrible car crash occurred. I ran over to see if anyone survived. That's when I met Hales, who by some kind of miracle, had survived. I brought her to the nearest hospital, where she had surgery."
Rebecca sighed. "When she woke up, I learned she had lost her entire memory. She had nobody else, so I chose to bring her home, and care for her. Since her real name was unknown to us at the time, she decided to go by Vera. Six months passed and we grew very close. We fell in love." She smiled. "She made me breakfast in bed the day she confessed. Pancakes shaped like hearts. had used maple syrup to write 'Je t'aime belle femme' on them. That's 'I love you beautiful woman' in French.
I smiled. "That sweet.
"It was. Anyways, a few days later we heard about this studio on the news since they were throwing a party for Ms. Winter's daughter. Something about the was familiar to her, so she asked if we could come to this party. Of course, I said yes. So we came and discovered who she was. Three weeks later, Joey decided to put Hailey in charge of the entire studio, and her first decision was to overhaul everything. A few weeks passed and the studio reopened as SillyVision Inc."
She smiled at me. "That's the story of SillyVison. So Buddy, want to learn some French? Hales taught me personally, so I can teach you what I know." She chuckled. "Think of it as a course on understanding Halette.
I thought about it for a bit, then nodded. "Sure."
"Great! We can have the first lesson during lunch."
"Wait, what about Mr. Schwartz? Shouldn't I tell him I'm quitting?"
Rebecca chuckled. "Don't worry. I think Halette's got it covered," she told me. "Now, the first place we're visiting is the Music Department, though I'll admit part of the reason is that I have a few things to attend to."
"What kind of things?"
"Susie Campbell wants to talk to me about something work-related. The department's director, Sammy Lawrence also wants to talk, but he won't say what it's about." Rebecca explained. "However, I promise it won't take long. Okay?"
