Alex really made me go to a Christmas party. He was the last person I wanted to see after Aspen ran away from me but he was my best friend. I wasn't feeling great for these few days and Alex wanted to cheer me up. I needed to forget about Aspen. She isn't mine and never was.
When we arrived at the party, people were drunk left and right. Both Alex and I didn't drink and tried to stay away from it. This looked more like a college party then a highschool party. I told Alex that I'm going to get us food or something and went to the kitchen. When I get there I see Aspen drinking from one of those cups near the alcohol bottles. No way that is Aspen, I thought. Then she triped over herself and I ran to help her.
"Aspen, what are you doing?" I ask, trying to lift her up. She doesn't answer. I smelled the cup to ensure that she drank alcohol. I took her outside to get fresh air. I felt like I was suffocating in there with all those people. I sat Aspen down, moving her hair from her face. "You wanna tell me why you're drinking?"
"You're not my mother." She responded.
"I'm not but I am your friend who worries about you."
"Well stop worrying. I can take care of myself." She stood up but fell back down.
"Really? Because right now it doesn't look like it." I slightly raised my voice.
"You know what? Just stay away from me. Leave me alone." She yelled and people started looking at us.
"Ok I'm sorry. I can take you home right now." I spoke in a softer tone. I held her elbow but she yanked it.
"Why did you have to come into my life? You messed everything up. I was fine without you." Aspen was crying at this point. I was hurt. Really hurt. I stepped back as Toni ran towards us.
"Asher I think it's best if you leave," Toni said and I nodded. I didn't wait for Alex and just left. Aspen was right, I messed everything up. I couldn't fix it and all I could do was walk away from it.
